Christian group, atheists, both dissatisfied with prayer observance
MADISON, Wis. (AP) - President Barack Obama will apparently be disappointing both Christian conservatives and atheists with the way he's observing tomorrow's National Day of Prayer.
The White House says Obama will issue a proclamation asking Americans to pray, just as presidents before him have done. But a spokesman says Obama won't hold any public events with religious leaders, something his predecessor did.
A private group that promotes prayer events around the country says it's disappointed with what it says is a "lack of participation by the Obama administration." Shirley Dobson of the National Day of Prayer Task Force says it's a time in the nation's history when Obama should "recognize more fully the importance of prayer."
A group that challenges the Day of Prayer as a violation of the separation of church and state says it welcomes Obama's more scaled- back observance. But the group says it's surprised that the Obama administration has so forcefully defended the observance against a court challenge.
OBAMA MARGINALIZES NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER, but CINCO DE MAYO in the WHITEHOUSE is just fine.

“And I would denote that the administrations prior to the past one did proclamations. That’s the way the president will publicly observe the national prayer day. But, as I said, privately, he’ll pray as he does every day.”
Clinton did an off-site observance, Bush did them in person...just another half truth from this Eunich in the Press Room...and WTH does “and I would denote” mean? Aren’t these morons supposed to be the best and the brightest?
A great conflict was about to come off between the Birds and the Beasts. When the two armies were collected together the Bat hesitated which to join.
The Birds that passed his perch said: “Come with us”; but he said: “I am a Beast.”
Later on, some Beasts who were passing underneath him looked up and said: “Come with us”; but he said: “I am a Bird.”
Luckily at the last moment peace was made, and no battle took place, so the Bat came to the Birds and wished to join in the rejoicings, but they all turned against him and he had to fly away. He then went to the Beasts, but soon had to beat a retreat, or else they would have torn him to pieces.
“Ah,” said the Bat, “I see now,He that is neither one thing nor the other has no friends.”
A bit of “dead white man” wisdom for O-bummer to ponder.
(The GOP could benefit from studying it too!)
A call to prayer issued by this White House doesn’t mean much. It isn’t “how” he does or doesn’t do it, its the fact that it seems like an empty gesture coming from Obama or anyone in his inner circle.
The call to prayer needs to come from us. We need to be praying, and not just on “prayer day”.
So....he can celebrate Cinco De Mayo, which isn’t even an American holiday, but he can’t celebrate a day that IS a recognized American holiday (designated by the United States Congress) and something MOST American’s do EVERY DAY?
Obama needs to get bent!!!!
He doesn’t like prayer services where they ask God to bless America. It’s against his religion.
“So....he can celebrate Cinco De Mayo...”
PLUS, when he made his lame joke about being a day ahead, he called it “Quatro de cinco” instead of “cuatro de Mayo” unless he meant to say they were celebrating the fourth of the fifth...the man is a nitwit...if W had said this, the libtards would still be laughing...
I have never heard that fable. Quite excellent!
Why is this story out of Mad Town?
Muslims pray differently.
Let’s see, 4% of the population against something like 73% of the population. That’s a close call...
Good grief. The White House traditionally recognizes just about every other group under the sun. Why not prayer groups?
Obama celebrated a new holiday: Cinco de Quatro.
Why would a Muslim celebrate a day of prayer anyway? Many Muslims would celebrate by killing others of different faiths.
