No, The Right Doesn’t Need to Play as Dirty as the Left
Pajamas Media ^ | May 6 | Adam Graham

PJM columnist John Hawkins’ advice to conservatives to be as nasty as liberals is like Sean Connery’s “Chicago way” speech in The Untouchables applied to American politics: “They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That’s the Chicago way.”

But is the “Chicago way” the right way for conservatives? Certainly, conservatives need to re-evaluate their tactics in light of Democratic behavior.

I think Hawkins’ thesis for conservative nastiness is wrong for several reasons:

1) Conservatives are not liberals

I’ll counter Hawkins’ martial arts analogy with a sports analogy of my own. A baseball team with several players that regularly hit home runs can get players on base, not worry about base running, and win with a strategy of “pitching, defense, and the three-run homer.” This same strategy won’t work if a team has decent speed and only one or two players that are reliable long-ball hitters. Baseball strategy is always going to be dependent on the team you have to play with. You can’t expect singles hitters to consistently deliver three-run homers, so you have to work it another way..

Republicans either go along with democrats or curl up in a ball while liberals kick them.

Well, maybe not, and it’s a proven fact that liberals are meaner and more unpleasant than conservatives; maybe it’s the religion thing and how we’re brought up not to offend and to be polite, etc. However, the Left’s strategy seems to be the winning one, as rude as it is.

I didn’t see any ideas for what we should do in this article, just a bunch of the standard “continue sucking your thumb in a fetal position” nonsense.

Then again, I support reforming the “Sons Of Liberty” and applying copious amounts of hot tar and feathers to biased news readers and Democrat politicians.

This is war. It needs to be fought like one. Why is this even a question?

It doesn't matter how the Republicans play, they'll be labeled right-wing-religious-zealots anyway, so we might as well do it Connery's way.

No one is more civil, studious and mild-mannered than Karl Rove and yet the Democrats/press have convinced the World he's a fire-breathing demon. Likewise Ken Star, Dick Cheney, Newt, you name them. Anyone remember Lee Atwater? Another monster.

Reality no longer matters, it's what James Carville, Paul Begala and George Soros can make people believe.

CHICAGO POLITICS is running the USA... we’d BETTER LEARN THIS ... And FAST

9/11 was the result of our country denying that we had war declared on us,

11/04/08 was the result of American Patriots not realizing there was a war declared on us.

The trash heap of history is filled with thugs and tyrants who misjudged the fine line separating outraging the American patriot and enraging him. Today's left and today's patriots are no different.

I am afraid you are right. The attacks, from claiming Newt was taking food from the elderly to that despicble ad by the NAACP attacking Bush for not signing hate crimes legislation in Tx, the Dems have played very hardball. And it's not just since Carville et. al. They took pride in destroying Bork and before him John Tower. Remember the effort to keep him from becoming SecDef?

No matter what the GOP does it will be attacked as mean spirited and cruel. We should show them what mean spirited really means.

I couldn't disagree more. Politics, like anything else in a free society, needs to be played under one set of rules, not two. To alter behavior in the hopes of getting a break from the partisan media is a hope so futile it's risible. On the contrary, I would advise precisely the opposite. Scream. Shout. "Get in their face," to quote a vastly overrated Chicago machine ward-heeler. Scream at the media while you're at it - they're going to give us bad press anyway. Scream at the cute little sneers dropped in casual conversation by libs who are accustomed to getting away with it because we're too intimidated to call them on it. Trust me, it's fun.

This notion of returning to an era of "polite" politics is a complete sham. There has never been one in American politics.

I don't disagree with that one. John Tower was a womanizer and a heavy drinker. Are you going to trust nuclear secrets to someone like that?

This is a poor analogy because the democrat team is allowed to make up the rules as they go along and threaten the umpire into giving favorable calls.

Unfortunately, we don’t own the press or the media so our voices are easily snuffed.

All conservatives really need to do is to stop listening to or worrying about the media. Let them moan and complain and then find out that the public doesn’t really pay much attention to them. Ignore their phony polls and move on.

Do that and we can win in 2010, 2012, 2014...

If not snuffed, our voices are seriously distorted beyond anything we actually meant to say.

I tell my football players and lady soccer players that they have to beat 3 people on game day....

1 your self doubt
2 the other team
3 the ref

If you can’t beat all 3 then you lose. If the ref isn’t calling holding then play your best game and let the coaches deal with the ref. I have my girls learn how to hipcheck with the best of them and tell them when to use it.

I think that not only should we start using their plays, we need to start setting up the press. By that I mean that if we hear of a Dem doing something wrong, we need to have a set up outed for doing the same thing. Kind of like punking the media every single time.

There's no limit to liberal socialist propaganda, even when masquerading in "conservative" clothing.

This has been the delusional position of the "moderare" conservative middle for about 8 years now. How has that worked out?

Nothing trumps reality, and more of the same can only make the present reality worse.

I suggest a small investment in time clearly to see reality:
