Chryslergate: More Evidence of White House Threats
NRO ^ | May 6, 2009 | Henry Payne

Detroit, Mich. — The scandal over White House threats to Chrysler debt holders got deeper yesterday — and its MSM cover-up more inexcusable — as two more representatives of creditors corroborated lawyer Tom Lauria’s account that the Obama administration threatened them with ruin if they did not accept Chrysler’s restructuring terms giving 55 percent of the company to the UAW.

Media outlets like MSNBC pooh-poohed Lauria’s account over the weekend by noting that Perella Weinberg — the firm allegedly threatened for not taking the administration’s forced deal of 29 cents on their investment dollar — denied the allegation. Others noted that Perella Weinberg had since caved to the administration, and therefore had every reason to deny earlier threats.

Time will come when the ‘progressives’ have to live with the consequences of their actions.
Destroying contracts and private property makes us another manyana republic....

A Manyana Republic is a pejorative term for a country that is politically unstable, aims to create wealth for all at some unspecified future time rather than now, and ruled by a small, self-elected, wealthy, and corrupt clique.”

“I think it is safe to add that the main export from a manyana republic is trouble.”

And the main imports are confidence and hope. As long as the imported confidence hope exceeds the amount of trouble generated, the manyana state remains stable.

Also known by some cynical and ungenerous detractors as a ponzi scheme.

The Wall Street Journal is the only place I've seen where they are talking about the serious legal issues involved--trampling rights of contract that are very basic to our system of laws by favoring the group Obama likes (unions) over those who legally have a prior claim on the money. Very dangerous precedent.

The focus of the libs is to “take care” of their union workers

I do not trust this government. If a union is AFLCIO the mafia thugs own it and how this administration is operating is clearly emulating how the mafia operates. Thus the loyalty that exists in DC politics regardless of party affiliation is to the mafia and to each other at any and all costs. The mob is being handed huge amounts of private assets by this president and the MSM is complicit in getting it done.

The dems are in bed with the unions, so anything is okay as long as the union is rewarded. Investors and taxpayers all be damned! This is politics at its worse!”

Ran into a person this past Saturday who I don’t get to see very often. Nice enough person—both he and his wife have been life-long teachers in Kalidornia.
They are now both retired.
He went on and on, spouting how much he was in support of everything that NObama is doing, and how much better everything is after the past 8 years.
I truly bit my lip and refrained from asking him where his teacher’s pension (Kalifornia) was invested. Did he think that the pension’s money was never or was not now invested in GM and Chrysler?

I didn’t say a thing— but I sure wanted to.
When the announcement comes that Kalifornia is cutting all their teacher’s pensions, I think I may send an anonymous note to him asking him ‘How do you like NObama now?”.

The strange part is Jan., Feb., were two very good months, in fact two of the best I've had.

Now all of the sudden business has just tanked, I'll be damned if I can figure it out.

I watched an old gangster movie a few nights ago, and part of the story line was about a restaurant owner in financial trouble who took a "loan" from the mob. His "new partners" came in a took the place over from him.

The more I see of the Obama administration, the more I see the workings of the Chicago Mob...

speaking of which, do we have a "dead pool" running on Tom Lauria? Anybody want to bet that he doesn't have a fatal accident in the near future?

Me too. I saw a real good one on a car last night, said “Real Friends don’t let Friends vote Republican”. I got next to her at the next traffic light and casually brushed her the bird.....and you’ll never guess what she was driving, a Frikin Blue Prius!

Part of it is normal economic cycles (real estate related for me) but the rest of it I believe to be an inside job. JMHO.

Any other time I would agree it's just a cycle and things would be looking up soon.

This time, I don't think so. This administration needs to be removed or neutered now, I am not the only one suffering these numbers.

The MSM has become a willing and active extension of the ‘Bama presidency. They should be concerned over any allegation, specious or not, that they are used or that there are threats that they would be used, as an instrument of intimidation. The MSM is becoming more and more the center of the news, and it seems to bother them not a bit. One can only conclude that the role pleases them.

Neither side is backing down. This is going to go nuclear. Whoever wins will win VERY big, and whoever loses will be utterly destroyed.

This is it folks. Obama is either going down in flames over this or, when the dust settles, we will have a VERY different Amerika.

IMO

We already have a very different USSA. That was taken care of back in November.

I agree. But I look at it this way: We are Berlin close to the end of WWII. We still eat, shop, etc. But those in the know are quite aware that the rumbling in the distance is not thunder. It is Russian guns. The day DOES come where the stark reality of the Russian invasion of Berlin becomes a stark reality and lives are DIRECTLY altered.

That is the type of “different” I am talking about.

Technically, my life has not changed one iota since the election.

A few things have gotten more expensive for me, and it's just the tip of a rather ugly iceberg. Especially here in MN with the DFL raising every tax they can get a vote on.

That light at the end of their tunnel is a pissed off citizen train. They'd better not be standing on the tracks when it gets here...

Yup. Sometimes things have to get worse before they get better. The book of Revelation is all about that.
