Iran Launches Airstrikes Into Iraq
The Weekly Standard Blog ^ | May 4, 2009 | Weekly Standard

(snip)

"To say this complicates the Obama administration's diplomatic outreach is to put it mildly. This administration -- in fairness, not unlike the last few years of the Bush administration -- seems prepared to make an endless series of concessions to Tehran in order to secure a peaceful resolution of the nuclear issue. Yet despite these repeated overtures, the Iranians refuse to budge even an inch and instead make announcements of more centrifuges and new missiles. Now they're launching airstrikes in Iraq."

Can’t blame Iraq failure on Bush. Iraq was stable when Obummer took office. Obummer ruined it by appeasing our enemies.

It’s still a matter of sovereignty, unless the Iraqi government (who darn well better be vassal) is perfectly happy with them getting attacked, which is still dumb not to defend your own sovereignty

How did Austrians react to the President’s recent visit and apology regarding his lack of language skill in speaking “Austrian?” I mean they’ve gotta think Obama is just a total idiot, right?

Well it definitely didn´t make him look very smart ;-)
But then again nobody here really expected him to be very smart so there was no outrage. just a good laugher.

Well, "in fairness" to Bush and the truth (from the excerpt text in the article):

"...Iranian aircraft attacked three villages inside Iraq over the weekend. The airstrikes — Iran’s first on Iraqi soil since the U.S. invasion — could complicate the Obama administration’s efforts to normalize relations with Tehran.
So without the sugarcoating these beltway pundits seem to believe is obligatory before reporting something less than positive about the anointed one, unlike Bush, Obama's leadership has embolden Iran to launch airstrikes on Iraq soil - after six years of Bush/Cheney leadership had deterred them.

"Complicates" my #$&! Try irrefutably discredits.

Welcome to FR, Newbie.

It is new. It is an attack on Iraq, where there
was peace developing until Pres_ _ent Obama decided
to -—once again-— help every single enemy of America.

ok, let me ask this question... (FReepers do not flame me, it is just a question)

Why would the U.S. be upset with Iran for reacting to an attack from the Kurds????

well thanks for the welcome.

No it´s not new (the only “new” is that this time it was Iran instead of turkey... which bombed them. as said before turkey is doing exactly the same for years now (leaving about 35.000 people dead in the last 30 years)... so as said before turkish war planes often “violate” iraqi air space to bomb the Kurds and the US and iraqi government do nothing to stop this. so why should they now stop Iran doing exactly the same? It would be a diplomatic nightmare for the US if they stop Iran as long as they don´t stop turkey doing exactly the same.

Because Iran is arming insurgents in Iraq, which are killing American troops. Iranian attacks against the Kurds in Iraq are part of this larger context.

Turkey is different because it is a NATO ally and we have military bases in Turkey. And Turkey is not aiding the insurgents in Iraq.

So turkey is allowed to kill Terrorists (that´s how they call em) but Iran is not? Would be a nice headline in the World news.

Because Iranian aircraft - unlike Turkish aircraft - striking inside Iraq are a threat to all US forces in Iraq. The Iranian military - unlike the Turkish military - has been involved in attacks on the US military in Iraq.

Iran knew Bush/Cheney would view this (irrespective of who they were or were not attacking) as a grave threat to those forces and would likely respond according.

Iran knows something completely different about Obama. [And this is a fact and not a flame.]

So you admit this attack on Iraq by Iran IS NEW.

It is secondary to American weakness due to Pres_ _ent Obama.
