Palin Joining GOP Rebranding Group
Roll Call ^ | May 4, 2009 | Jackie Kucinich

Posted on 05/04/2009 10:27:57 PM PDT by Choose Ye This Day

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), the 2008 vice presidential nominee, will join a new Republican policy group aimed at reshaping and promoting the party brand.

House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.)announced Palin’s decision to join the National Council for a New America on Monday night. The group launched late last week and held its first town hall-style forum on Saturday in Virginia.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the 2008 presidential nominee, indicated during a conference call last week that his former running mate had been invited to join the policy panel. The group, which is made up of prominent Republican leaders, plans to hold town hall meetings across the country over the next few months.

Palin’s absence from the group had prompted questions about whether she was snubbing it or being left out.

Jesus promised not to bring peace but a sword. As the thread police have seen fit, however, to keep this about the wonderful prospect of a Jeb-Mitt-Sarah “listening tour,” the problem I have with Jeb, first and foremost, is that he comes from a family has had active contempt for the last real conservative to hold the office. I see no reason to believe that Jeb will be any better than the poison tree from which he springs.

I think compare and contrast might be a good thing.

No interested in your religious comments/beliefs but am curious about one thing.

Who in your realm of reasoning are qualified to lead this country as president/senators/representatives and should be worthy of the conservative support?

If your daughters would ignore everything you ever taught them because someone in People Magazine may or may not of contradicted them then you have your own problems to worry about and should stop acting morally superior to a family you don't even know.

...Excuses were made when she took the bailout. Now she’s participating in a group that is CLEARLY the wrong people going in the wrong direction. Do we make that ‘ok’ too?..

Well, she is a sitting Gov. She is required to deal with the will of the people of her state. If they, through their legislature say: take the money. What was she supposed to do, say no - "I know better than you"?

And if she is our conservative voice, why not have her be a part of this group? Should we leave it up to the RINO's to be the only voices in the group?

And if she wants to fight to get to the WH, then she's gonna have to engage all comers. R & D alike. And she can't do that sitting on the sidelines.

I have guarded hope for Sarah Palin if she fesses up to her family problems and begins flying right. I would like to watch Mitt Romney and see if he starts serving up red meat. But I would prefer to work on local races and re-build the G.O.P. from the ground up--kick out all the log cabin types, the feminist types, the gun-hating types, the pro-aborts. I would like to work on local churches and tell the pastors if they don't give an anti-tax, pro-life sermon at least once a month they don't really deserve the pulpit. I would appeal to ethnic minorities who are tired of Bolshevism and who believe in Christian values.

Above all, though, political leaders can't have egregious failures in adhering to a family values standard. We will never govern less, if we don't govern ourselves more.

Maybe if you had the guts to put those thoughts to Mr. Todd Palin, he would kindly explain the facts of life to your dumb ass! I would pay handsomely to be a witness. Any father would/could address your problem.

"That is true."

Uh-huh, and it also explains much one's left with nothing but guesses. ;^)

"I live in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts."

I'm so sorry to hear that, my friend.
How're you doing. {g}
I'm *stuck* in WI, and while we're not as out of kilter as MA I'm sure our Gov & his harpies have intentions of catching up to MA, if not surpassing.

"If someone came to me with this thread and asked to to explain this nutcase, I could say he doesn’t speak for me, for Christians, or for Freepers."

And you'd be absolutely correct, my friend.
Your only mistake --from *my* POV-- is that you've neglect to finish the question, ie, if they're none of those things you said? Who does the individual speak for, then?

Of course the answer to that one lies in the individuals own words, doesn't it?
Looked at in such a perspective, mysteries are unmysteriously solved all by themselves.

I mean c'mon, let us admit at least one of the imbeciles could very well be Keith Olbermann for all we'd know, eh?

"But I have a suspicion that no matter how persuasive I might be, I would have difficulty changing many minds."

Yes but you assume "they" come seeking to find and exchange answer(s), idea(s), commradre' etc, too. When you receive any & everything but, you're justifiably stumped.
If you weren't stumped it'd make you a classic mark, a genuine sucker and you're neither.
Capiche? :^)

"Not that anyone expects liberals up here to be open to changing their minds, but why provide them with ammunition and justification?"

Worse than that my friend, why argue with 'em, a'tall?
And in some cases right here that's all I see people do, much to the twisted delight of a perp(s).

Lookit this stuff's so easy to see a Caveman can do it.
Just takes some thought & practice, is all.
OK? :^)

Thanks for the response. So in effect you don’t have a cadre of names that you’ll support but rather a compilation of qualifications/standards that you deem necessary to hold office.

Starting at the lower levels makes sense as that is where the foundations are laid and groomed. My take is that to continue to belittle the masses won’t get you what you are striving to achieve and only takes away valuable time and effort from your stated goals.

Take care and again thanks for your response.

"What is totally moronic on the part of many critics of Sarah Palin, is their allusion that somehow the questionable sex life of Sarah’s daughter, Bristol, makes Sarah unqualified for higher office..."

Well only because they can; insodoing, the buggers hope to play to the right-wing they themselves have stereotyped as unreasonable biggots with unrealistic ideas of how life should be lived. And it WORKS like the proverbial charm.
Have you not seen the disgrace of the "Jesus War" threads right here? MY Jesus is best. No mine's the best!! And at no time is His love introduced into the debate as the one singular common thread running through all we worship.
~sigh~

Look essentially Liberal-Socialists do precisely what any good musician does playing a gig, they play the room.
Follow?

"...but ignore the fact that the Messiah should be unqualified to be POTUS because he has the power to threaten an investment bank with ruination if it does not agree to go behind the UAW in terms of Chrysler’s bankruptcy procedure."

OF COURSE!! LOL!!
Would you have them direct focus to their weaknesses, of which they're many?

Play chess?
Follow the analogy: Three ways to prevent Checkmate.
1) Move (the King).
2) Block (move a piece in the path of attack)
-or-
3) Capture (the attacker).
See the 3 strategies are choices.

The insipid leftist sots are utilizing their choices all open to them thanks in no small measure to their highly trained, powerful, Second Amendment protected quislings infesting the quisling media!
It is what it is, and here's where the Serenity Prayer truly comes into its own. ;^)

"The latter certainly is not Presidential behavior..."

Makes perfect sense for one who's unpresidential.

"...while the former is prurient but not prohibitive for higher office."

There you go again being logical, reasoned & fair.
You'll learn, I did. :^)

Panel of Experts:

Bobby Jindal
Haley Barbour
Jeb Bush
John McCain
Mitt Romney

And what, pray tell, is it that these men are purportedly so expert in, eh?

I think self-government was exactly what was happening in the Palin home. I don’t believe that Bristol is taking money from the gov’t to raise her son so I’m not sure about the welfare state comment. And Jesus told the woman to “sin no more” but there is no evidence that he didn’t associate with her. And feminism isn’t a bad word when Sarah Palin is the definition.

They need her more than she needs them.

I believe she will use this as a clear opportunity to show her ability to LEAD.

“Well, she is a sitting Gov. She is required to deal with the will of the people of her state. If they, through their legislature say: take the money. What was she supposed to do, say no - “I know better than you”?

Yes, just like Patriot Gov. Sanford is doing. He’s not allowing Obama to dictate what the funds can be used for. If he can’t pay down the state’s past debt with it, he won’t take it. Either you are FOR the bailout spending or you’re not.

“And if she is our conservative voice, why not have her be a part of this group? Should we leave it up to the RINO’s to be the only voices in the group? And if she wants to fight to get to the WH, then she’s gonna have to engage all comers. R & D alike. And she can’t do that sitting on the sidelines.”

First of all, she’s for comprehensive immigration reform, so she won’t be my conservative voice. Sitting on the sidelines is NOT the only option she has. What’s wrong with her standing up to OPPOSE this group and what they stand for. . If she wants to be the voice of conservatism, let her stand up and oppose them, tell the American people WHY she opposed it, how her positions differ from that of the RHINO’s. Give US a voice...on that can stand up against them. Isn’t THAT what we are looking for? I know for me it is. Again, I’ve yet to hear how her ‘conservative’ voice differs in any way from theirs.

Folks just need to acknowledge what she says and does, stop continuing to make excuses for her and see her for what she is. Some folks just refuse to let go. I’m not willing to settle just because she’s being pushed as the favored to win. If we let ourselves be “fred thompsoned”, we’ll lose again.
