WASHINGTON - Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives will seek passage in coming weeks of $94.2 billion in emergency money for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and other programs, including $2 billion more to prepare for an influenza pandemic.
House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey, outlining the legislation for reporters, also said the legislation would include $2.2 billion to fund some C-17 airplanes for the Pentagon. But it will not address future purchases of a refueling tanker airplane sought by the Air Force.

“Looks like Nancy’s throwing gang signs...”
Probably flashing the sign to her Crypt homies back home.
Speaking of crypts, she kinda looks like the Crypt Keeper from Tales From The Crypt in that pic.
What’s our EXIT STRATEGY for Afghanistan, Mr. Obama? After the last round everyone knows you don’t ramp it up without an EXIT STRAGTEGY.
The sooner that rag goes out of business the better. Will be partying when they have to shut down the CBS, ABC, and NBC Newsrooms too.
This includes $50 Billion to strengthen ACORN’S Abilitys to mobilize it’s Army of Provacateers and Anti-American Community Agitators! Peanuts go to OUR Great Military!
As I recall, the CDC has sucessfully:
- made too little vaccine
- made the wrong vaccine
- made too much vaccine and had to throw it away
- disqualified select vaccine makers for no known reason
No one wants to underestimate the POSSIBLE severity of ANY
national/global health issue.
But do ya think we might get some bang for the buck with CDC leadership a little tiny bit better than freshman test tube washers?????
I’m only an mechanical engineer - not a biologist or other med school wannabe - but I’ve not heard a whole lot of success stories coming out of the CDC for many years.
Didn’t they just lose control of their environmental conditions in Atlanta like a couple of months ago??
Now how incompetent is that? I did indeed manage cleanrooms for a while and losing HVAC systemic control is
rank foolishness and neglect.
So we need a couple more billion $’s to send ACORN out to tell Chicago’s south side to wash their hands?
Personnally, I propose we mandate that they stop breathing.
That way we reduce man-made global warming AND stem the flu propogation/adaptation.
Sorry for the rant - but it was better to let it out than slit my parrot’s throat (even if the little sucker is potentially an avian flu secret agent)
Just curious - when do we get dog flu or cat flu? These options have so much more potential for creating mass panic and further governmental control.
Words - just words.
And unfortunately, it doesn't stop till he's dead or in jail.
WTF?! MORE??
Jeez not this $hit again............... Go take it out of your pension fund Nancy!
What’s to look for? Just take it.
Think people are noticing?
One trillion.
Two trillion
Three trillion
Four trillion
Five.....And still spending......
America is flat broke, and the trillions spent have literally disappeared into the night. Poof! Gone! Now the democrats want.....MORE.
We can live without the governments money, but the government can’t live without ours. Starve the beast.
That was then, this is now. not sarc/
If something like this had happened to Bush it would have been 4" high headlines above the fold on page one.
The democrats in Congress are only afraid that this will cost them politically. This tells me that the internal polling on this whole Gitmo release thing is very bad for the democrats.
I’m seeking $94.2 dollars for a cup of coffee at Starsucks.
true, but it had to kill them to write
“Once the alarm had been sounded, the response in this country was vigorous, thanks to advanced planning and stockpiling of medicines and equipment during the Bush administration.”
Well at least they finally noticed there's a war going on.
