Bill O'Reilly: Obama Derangement (Barf Alert)
Townhall ^ | May 2, 2009 | Bill O'Reilly

Posted on 05/01/2009 10:32:42 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Remember the term "Bush Derangement Syndrome," which perfectly captured the hateful invective directed at the former president? Many conservatives condemned BDS, as they should have. Like him or not, the president tried hard to serve and protect America; he did not deserve to be the target of cheap shots all day long by crazy left-wing loons.

But now the proverbial shoe is on the other foot and ODS (Obama Derangement Syndrome) is in play. The dictionary defines "derangement" as a form of insanity. After listening to some partisans evaluate Barack Obama's first 100 days in office, I have to say there is some madness in the air.

On my TV program the other night, I graded President Obama on his performance thus far. I gave him a "B" for domestic policy, largely because the stock market has stabilized and recession panic is receding a bit. I then awarded Obama a "C" in the foreign policy category because he has little to show for his public criticism of America. The Obama people will tell you that the president "planted a seed" while speaking overseas, but his spouting off about America's ills seemed weak to me.

Finally, I gave the president a "C-plus" for leadership. While his job approval poll ratings remain high, his waffling about the interrogation deal did not demonstrate a strong and forward-looking point of view to say the least.

Well, after that on-air report card, I received quite a few dissenting letters. One guy in Arizona said he was glad I wasn't teaching because I'd be the new Ward Churchill. A man in Denver said I had lost my mind because Obama deserved "F's" across the board. Still another guy opined that the president had accomplished nothing and that I should be ashamed.

So let me ask you, is ODS the same as BDS? I think it is.

Fairness is a hallmark of America. Our legal system, with its appeals process and litany of rights for the accused, is a great example of that. Greatness of any kind cannot be achieved without being fair. Tyrants may rule for a time, but they are never great.

Holding sincere opinions is also an honorable trait. There are fair-minded Americans who simply do not believe Obama's liberal view of the world is good for the country. Fine, no problem with that. But everything the man does is not awful, and to assign him sinister motives is blatantly unfair -- the same kind of inequity we saw heaped upon President Bush.

President Obama may turn out to be a disaster, or he may rise to greatness. At this point, nobody knows what will happen. That is the great thing about democracy and capitalism. When done right, those things give people a fair chance to succeed, and there's nothing deranged about it.

Yep...can’t disagree with you there. I was also disappointed that Rush did not take charge in some of those areas (and at least provide some momentum into answering the questions). I really think that the lack of evidence may have created a bit of a problem though. Sometimes even the best tend to take a cautious approach at times.

The Problem with the Birth Certificate is that even if it is fake, what jurisdiction does the SCOTUS have in removing the POTUS? Absolutely none. The House would have to impeach him, and the Senate would have to remove him with 2/3’s of the vote. Plus, if Obama was removed, we would have Biden to deal with. Biden is more squared away, and would make a much more formidable opponent (However he would do much less damage to the country).

Why is that every person that want to give Obama a chance, is a freaking newbie on here like you are? Man it is getting old.

“The House would have to impeach him, and the Senate would have to remove him with 2/3’s of the vote. Plus, if Obama was removed, we would have Biden to deal with”.......

Not Exactly——

“.... if Obama does become an usurper posturing as “the President,” Congress cannot even impeach him because, not being the actual President, he cannot be “removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors” (see Article II, Section 4). In that case, some other public officials would have to arrest him—with physical force, if he would not go along quietly—in order to prevent him from continuing his imposture. Obviously, this could possibly lead to armed conflicts within the General Government itself, or among the States and the people.”

For the entire article....

I felt kind of bad after my post there, Deagle. Got on a bit of a rant. Glad you understood my point and where I’m comin’ from.

Rush certainly had the opportunity to speak for the rest of us and put pressure on Obama to put his cards on the table way before election day came around. For whatever reason, he didn’t.

Questions are simple. Answers are simple. When someone can’t answer a simple question alarm bells should go off in anyone with a lick of commonsense.

Hey, no need to regret anything you’ve said... I have often wondered myself why nobody seems to be listening and or actually taking some action to at least question some of the unknowns (unproven). I guess I am just not quite worked up enough (yet)... If things keep going as they are, you will be the calm one...

I don’t know the answers to those questions, Thunder90. That’s why it gets my goat that Obama was allowed to get that far in the first place. We had so many opportunities (via Rush, Hannity, Malkin, Coulter, etc.) but not one of our conservative “friends” had the nerve to stand up and speak out about it. That’s when I finally started to realize that we are all screwed. Not just from the left, but from the right as well, and the bottom, and the top....everywhere.

Yes, Biden would be a disaster. But look at what has happened in the past 100 days? If Obama isn’t a walking talking disaster for this country, I don’t know what is.

I appreciate that, Deagle. And there’s no sense getting worked up about it. Isn’t good for the heart, ya know. Sometimes it’s good medicine to be able to rant and get it off the chest.

It’s been a pleasure talking to you.

First of all O’Reilly is an idiot, whose schtik is to portray himself between the “far right” aka conservatives and the “far left”.

Second of all, which of Obama’s programs would you have us support?

Rush is the polar opposite of O’Reilly. You may not agree with Rush, but unlike O’Reilly, Rush is not a populist. Rush always stands on his principles whether or not you agree with him.

Bill, Bill, Bill...you have certainly done it this time..you are slowly working your way up the loonie list. I think Bill, you need to re-evaluate your stance...cause you are not taking into consideration middle income ppl who are getting slaughtered here.

We all can't be as rich as you Bill, and just care about the stock market...many of us can't afford to buy stocks, so go back to your humble roots and remember what it would be like to be a middle class American..

Rush has never criticized those going after BO’s birth certificate, but like most people he realizes that isn’t going anywhere. Even if they prove he was born in Kenya, with an American mother, you are never going to get the Supreme Court to say that he is not an American citizen, so Rush doesn’t waste hours of air time beating the dead horse.

Is BOR a pinhead? I think he is. Drawing any equivalence between Bush opposition and 0bama opposition is like equating an allergy to grass and a sensitivity to prussic acid.

The trouble with you, sir, is that you hold no firm, guiding political principles; and at your age that makes you...let's say it politely!...a PINHEAD.

I still believe that Oreilly must have signed an agreement with obama in order to get an interview with him. Probably promised not to badmouth him or tell the truth about him. Just provide fluff jobs.

Problem with that is that it is a dead
horse that NEEDS to be beaten.

I fail to see how some people can pick and choose the constitutional travesty that they consider worth worrying about. But it sure would be nice to know who’s in your corner!
