Republicans, including Romney, launch new [RINO] group

Reeling congressional Republicans today launched a new effort days after their latest setback -- the defection of Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, putting Democrats within reach of potentially being able to push legislation through the Senate without a single Republican vote.

House GOP Whip Eric Cantor announced that the National Council for a New America will hold its first event on Saturday with former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, who ran last year and could run again in 2012; Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, another possible 2012 contender; former Governor Jeb Bush, the former president's brother; and Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour, a former national GOP chairman.

The council appears a way to rebut Democratic portrayals of the GOP as the "party of no" by pulling together a cohesive policy strategy by the opposition.

This forum will engage in a conversation with America that seeks to remove ideological filters

Could these people get any more tone deaf?

Republicans don't need to remove ideological filters, they need to build a honking huge stone wall with REPUBLICAN IDEOLOGY painted on it in enormous indelible Day-Glo colors and surrounded with punji sticks to keep "moderates" from breaching the wall.

Boiling oil wouldn't be a bad idea, either.

I just read/heard that Palin might be involved. The town hall kind of things sound like a good thing to me, a place for tea party goers to speak their mind.
Did you put the rino alert in? I don’t consider Jeb,Mitt or Cantor to be rinos myself.

Your sign-on date corresponds to the time period Mittiacs arose at FR to trash all other candidates. The soft denigration of Sarah Palin is now the modus operandi of some of the Mittiacs at FR. Your posts are that sort: ‘she's so great ... but she has shown so many flaws we don't need now.’

This effort is what is known in warfare as a false flag operation.

And it is a blatant attempt by Mitt Romney to complete his takeover of the GOP.

You appear unable to discern the media manufactured trashing of Sarah Palin. Have a nice day, n00b.

Outside McCain, Mitt is the biggest RINO in the bunch. His actions speak far louder than his words.

What I’d like to see is a “new” group to fight for the “old” America, her Founding Documents, and the precepts that made her great.

Perry is a lying, two-faced, amnesty friendly, tax hiking, big spending RINO. But you’d have to live n Texas to know that. The secession talk from Perry was just a ploy for getting conservatives to vote for him in the primary (our blonde imbecile senator is running against him - and she is as bad as Perry...probably worse)

Why do you give a damn..

Because, while I couldn't care less about the survival of the Republican Party, I care quite a lot about the survival of our free republic.

If the formerly grand old party has to go the way of the Whigs to save the republic, great. If someone can find some way to use the old jalopy in the service of saving the republic, without the continued co-opting, dissipation and misdirection of the conservative strength which is the only hope for the country, fine. I'll support them.

We can survive without the Republican Party. We cannot survive without the republican principles that the Republican Party once represented.

All I hear is whining about the republican elites. Whining is for losers.

I agree. I don't want to hear all the smearing of this Repub and that one. I want to hear who we should support and why.
All it takes to make a nobody into a winning candidate is a strong cheering section and a willingness not to pick them apart. It worked for Obama.

Mutt Romney is a bigger POS than even rino McCrazy!

Mutt is 100% anti-gun, pro-abortion, and pro-queer agenda.
