The Little Red Hen 2009
Once upon a time, there was a little red hen who lived on a farm . She was friends with a dog , a cat , and a yellow duck .
One day the little red hen found some seeds on the ground. The little red hen had an idea. She would plant the seeds .
The little red hen asked her friends, "Who will help me plant the seeds ?"
"Not I," barked the dog . "Not I," purred the cat . "Not I," quacked the yellow duck .
"Then I will," said the little red hen . So the little red hen planted the seeds all by herself.
When the seeds had grown, the little red hen asked her friends, "Who will help me cut the wheat ?"
"Not I," barked the dog . "Not I," purred the cat . "Not I," quacked the yellow duck .
"Then I will," said the little red hen . So the little red hen cut the wheat all by herself.
When all the wheat was cut, the little red hen asked her friends, "Who will help me take the wheat to the mill to be ground into flour ?"
"Not I," barked the dog . "Not I," purred the cat . "Not I," quacked the yellow duck .
"Then I will," said the little red hen . So the little red hen brought the wheat to the mill all by herself, ground the wheat into flour , and carried the heavy sack of flour back to the farm .
The tired little red hen asked her friends, "Who will help me bake the bread ?"
"Not I," barked the dog . "Not I," purred the cat . "Not I," quacked the yellow duck .
"Then I will," said the little red hen . So the little red hen baked the bread all by herself.
When the bread was finished, the tired little red hen asked her friends, "Who will help me eat the bread ?"
"I will," barked the dog . "I will," purred the cat . "I will," quacked the yellow duck .
"No!" said the little red hen . "I will. I planted the seeds, I tended the plants and I harvested the wheat. I took the wheat to the mill and I made the flour into bread. Now I and my family will enjoy the fruits of my labors."
"STOP!"
It was the booming voice of The Big Red Farmer.
"YOU WILL NOT EAT THE BREAD! IT IS NOT FAIR THAT THESE OTHERS HAVE NOTHING AND YOU WHO HAVE WON LIFE'S LOTTERY HAVE IT ALL! THE WEALTH WILL BE RETURNED TO THOSE WHO ACTUALLY OWN IT! YOU WILL ONLY BE ALLOWED TO HAVE AS MUCH AS I SAY YOU CAN! I AM DOING THIS FOR THE GOOD OF ALL BECAUSE YOU HAVE BEEN GREEDY AND EVIL! I WILL NOT ALLOW THE OTHERS TO DO WITHOUT AND YOU AND YOUR FAMILY TO BE WEALTHY!"
And he did....................................................
So—shoot the farmer!
The historical record appears to show that little red hens who complain about their fruitless toil end up as Sunday dinner!
So all the little Red Hens packed their things, sailed to the New World and founded a Country for the name of Jesus Christ.
Someone needs to photoshop Obama with an axe in hand behind the little red hen.
I think it has been banned as a hate book.
Paul Galdone! He’s the BEST! My mom used to read me his stuff, and when I was a teen listening to her read it to the baby sis, I still loved it!
The few Little Red Hens who still toiled in their New World homeland slowly became discouraged. One day the wisest among them climbed up onto a high point and looked further West. There, just a short distance from their homeland, ebbed and flowed the Pacific Ocean. This wise Little Red Hen knew that the lands on the other side were already settled by others who would not be easily persuaded to move if she and her friends arrived to settle.
The wise LRH turned back toward her own homeland. Slowly and sadly, but resolutely, she walked back among her friends.
With a quiet and wise word she led some of them toward the LRH Armory. There the Troop of LRH's settled down to clean the treasured Instruments of Freedom that were stored there. Talk among the LRH's was quiet, but an atmosphere of resolve had settled upon them.
