Obama Targets Tea Bags at Town Hall (President Criticizes Americans Again)
Politico ^ | Wednesday, April 29, 2008 | Alexander Burns

Posted on 04/29/2009 9:56:39 AM PDT by kristinn

At his 100th-day town hall meeting in St. Louis, Mo., President Obama took direct aim at the anti-tax “tea party” demonstrations that have cropped up over the last month – and took a veiled shot at FOX News Channel, at the cable news network closely associated with the protests.

Asked about fiscal discipline and entitlements reform, Obama seemed to be repressing a smile as he jabbed critics of his spending plans.

"Those of you who are watching certain news channels on which I'm not very popular, and you see folks waving tea bags around, Obama said, “let me just remind them that I am happy to have a serious conversation about how we are going to cut our health care costs down over the long term, how we are going to stabilize Social Security.”

“But,” Obama continued, “let's not play games and pretend that the reason [for the deficit] is because of the Recovery Act."

It’s the president’s most direct response so far to the protests that flared up in some locations around tax day, on April 15.

In his briefing that day, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters: “I don't know if there's a specific response to protests..I think you saw the president today talk about as candidate Obama promising to bring a tax cut to 95 percent of working families in America, and as president delivering that tax cut.”

Hussein: full of disdain for the American taxpayer and employer.

Hussein is a major league clymer.

Personally, I consider it an honor to be insulted by this administration. When they insult me, they confirm that they know that I’m not buying their BS.

“he can point out that there was little in the way of positive ideas at the parties”

no, that was you just now... some people always have to find a way to moan! a protest is just that. most positive thing to happen in years and some people have to take petty shots from a distance. It beggars belief

"He’s a brat brought up by aging indulgent grand-parents, with a slut for a mother, and no idea who his real 'father' might be."

There.
Fixed.

“But,” Obama continued, “let’s not play games and pretend that the reason [for the deficit] is because of the Recovery Act.”
Translated from Socialist into American:
“We’re spending money as fast as we can print it, but you extreme right-wing groups—just pay your reparations taxes and shut up.”

How does one give a tax cut to someone who doesn’t PAY taxes???

I have known petty, thin skinned, vindictive people in my life, some of whom were totally self-absorbed narcissists, and it scares the crap out of me to see one of them as President.

These are the sorts of people that have NO regard for anyone or anything unless it forwards their own agenda and lust for power ...

People are buying the lie that things are improving. But it’s all a house of cards built on government spending and projected deficits of $1 trillion a year for the next ten years. The national debt is already so outrageous that every U.S. citizen’s share is about $37,000. Even a new-born baby. This does not even include the unfunded liability for Social Security payments, or the Medicare multi-trillion dollar hole.

People are ignoring the fact that Obama plans huge new tax increases. Letting the Bush tax cuts expire will add $1 trillion in taxes, and that will kill hundreds of thousands of jobs. Passing Cap & Trade (aka cap & tax) will had a few hundred billion in new taxes, resulting in skyrocketing electricity costs and the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs.

Plus, the Socialist Obama administration will add more and more regulatory burdens to business, killing incentive, killing free enterprise, and jobs. Obama and his Socialist Congress have not learned one thing from the collapse of the former USSR. They think socialism is the best form of government.

On top of all this, Obama is weakening our national defense, setting the stage for another 9/11 attack, or worse. The risk of a deep depression lasting a decade, or until the Socialists are thrown out, is very high.

It’s time for the States to call for a new Constitutional Convention to repeal the 16th amendment (income tax) and repair the significant damage done to the Constitution by at least a dozen key Supreme Court decisions. (See book titled “The Dirty Dozen” by Robert Levy and William Mellor)

wonder what he is going to say after July 4th when we will not just be waving tea bags but the American flag in a distressed manner?

I don’t think I have EVER heard a president talk about the American people the way this one has. This guy is going to end up going down in history as the most hated president of all times.

It wasn't from a distance. i was at the NYC rally from 6:30 til 9. The negativity was necessary, but nothing followed except the cliche to hold Congress's feet to the fire. Now maybe something will come of the parties. I hope so, but I've seen very little in their aftermath.

If you've had a different experience or reaction that's good but I can't sugar coat the difficulties I see facing Obama's opposition at this time.

Do not underestimate this man. He is extremely bright. He’s just evil and he sets his goals and desires over any common sense.
