"A 23-month-old child from Texas has become the first American to die from the swine flu outbreak, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta confirmed today. The CDC released no other information about how or where the child may have contracted the disease." ABC report, First U.S. Death From Swine Flu in Texas the CDC Confirms, April 29, 2009 [emphasis added]
My antennae started to go up as I heard various reports about the first reported swine flu death in the USA. A 23-month old child from Texas was all that we were told. Googling, I found the ABC article above pointedly mentioning that the CDC released no other information about how or where the child may have contracted the disease.

Just watching the Big “oh” on tv. He doesn’t say a child from Texas, he says “in” Texas. Might just be me.
Really?
And you can prove otherwise?
No one is dead here. Cases are not more than you would normally expect of any flu.
So where is the big story? A few folks die in Mehico but strangely no where else.
AND EVEN IF THEY DID DIE OF SWINE FLU, their numbers are insignificant to warrant this mass hysteria.
So. what do you mean “wrong”?
But it isn't odd, it's normal.
Not correct.
That makes it absolutely unique ~ nothing like it has been discovered before.
The overall age-adjusted death rate in 2006 was 776.4 deaths per 100,000 population, compared with 799 per 100,000 in 2005. The number of total deaths was 2,425,900, down 22,117 from 2005.
All that in 365.25 days, people die from influenza every single day, in every state. Yes it is tragic, but its a fact of life.
Yes, a single death without giving out any details is being blown out of proportions, especially if they don’t give out important facts like the health of the child before they were infected.
Were there allergies? did the child already have a bad cold when exposed? unless we know all the facts a single death is not that conclusive of the virulence of this disease.
I don't have to prove it is NOT a manufactured crisis. It's real, it's major, and the size and scope of the problem are both, for the moment, unknowable.
Time to turn on the TV and find out the news.
You didn't perhaps have the idea that these flu pandemics begin full blown on DAY 1?
Please clarify how "major" and "size and scope unknowable" are simultaneously true.
Size and scope unknowable because lab confirmation in Atlanta is a chokepoint on new numbers and because the professionals won't speculate, knowing that the politicians in charge don't have their back.
The poor in Mexico are expendable. Here, we do have medication to contain it. It's the fright they want. It's the panic. They'll have no choice but to legislate Health Care Welfare now - "For our own good."
In order to create a Socialist society, the society in existence has to be destroyed first. Because of chaos, the people will cry out for a savior. Be he God or the Devil - they'll accept him.
The socialist can then rebuild the society in their own image.
If you want to take over a health care system, the system in existence has to be destroyed first. There will be chaos - real, imagined, or manufactured. The people will cry out for a savior, and Health Care Welfare will be put in it's place.
It's all about power and privilege, and they'll keep it no matter what the cost.
Never listen to what the talking heads are telling you. Look around and pay attention. Actions always speak louder than words.
It's always about power and privilege. Always.

I have a 2 year old myself. Not happy about this at all, but Houston is like little Mexico in some places, so I'm not too surprised.
FOX just reported on the radio that the child was “visiting from Mexico.”
“Remember, Mexico was fine until the Oboma visit. After he left, people started dieing en mass.”
Black plague? /snark
