You are not understanding the facts if you have NO concern. Concern is not hysteria.
The “usual” flu season is OVER. This flu is just getting started. When was the last time the pandemic alert level was at 4 ? It may go to 5 today - the WHO has called an emergency meeting later today.
Everyone needs to be informed of the facts, so they can take whatever precautions they choose to. With any luck, this will turn out to be a non-event. But it is TOO SOON TO KNOW.
Well, the biggest reason for concern that I can figger is we don't have a vaccine for this yet, and won't for at least a few months.

The city health commissioner, the CEO of Chicago Public Schools and police are expected at a Wednesday morning press conference discussing the closure of an elementary school in the Far North Side’s Rogers Park neighborhood because of the Swine Flu virus.
Chicago Public Schools spokeswoman Monique Bond said early Wednesday that Kilmer Elementary School at the 6700 block of North Greenview Avenue is being closed because of swine flu.
“We do have a probable case [at Kilmer]...and we’re now going to send that specimen on to the CDC,” said Illinois Department of Public Health spokeswoman Melaney Arnold, who could not confirm if it was a student at the school who had become ill.
More details will be available at a 7 a.m. press conference at the school. The school’s Web site did not provide further details early Wednesday.

In a normal flu the mortality ages are as you say, very young and very old. This flu could be different, like the 1918 influenza. That flu killed the young adults at a much higher rate. Scientists today attribute this to that flu’s tendency to over excite the immune system setting it against the body. Those with the strongest immune systems suffered catastrophic damage to their respritory systems as they were attacked by the immune systems.
It is interesting to read the levels of concern and information provided through other governments to their own people. Japan, Britain...and what the 0 administration is sayin to the our own citizens who are more likely to be affected ....

Yes you are so correct & it is spreading through our schools at a very alarming rate . With the normal flu you don’t have 100 sick kids at once etc... Alot of new cases being reported in Chicago , NH , schools etc..
Mind you, I'm not surprised in another way, because when you're down with the flu it can make you very susceptible to other infections that can cause serious complications. I still think we're just a bit too panicky because on average, the flu can cause thousands of deaths in the USA per year during an outbreak--and that's with a more mild strain!

The problem is, is that they're likely only testing the sickest people. There have to be tons of milder cases where people don't go for medical care so no one knows what they have.
In some of those countries, people don't go to the hospitals until they're on deaths door. They are so afraid of dying in a hospital that they wait until they are so far gone that medical intervention is useless anyway. (As told me by a friend who lived in a South America country for a while.)
Looking through some news photos this morning, not looking good for pigs around the world. Government are having them slaughtered to prevent transmission of the swine flu.
