Well, I remember the great Hong Kong Flu scare of the 1970s and that turned out to be a big fat ZERO.

I'm worried that the globalists are going to seize any chance that they can to force this country into a martial law situation from which they can grab permanent control. I think that's one reason the MSM is hovering all around and trying to stir up a panic.

I was a senior in high school in 1957 and I had the flu. I didn't remember that it was called Asian flu at the time. I was VERY sick, I mean VERY VERY sick. I have had the flu several times in the 70’s and 80’s but never was close to being that sick again.

It appears it may be the case. Fox reports the death was in the Rio Grande Valley and the child was “from” Brownsville. All the reports lately have stressed the child died in the US, but it’s unknown whether the child lives in the US.

It absolutely defies logic! We live in Texas and on a good day, our hospitals and emergency rooms are full of illegals seeking healthcare. The waiting times have gone from 30 minutes or so to hours and hours.

Can you imagine was is about to befall Texas and other border states with all of these sick people fleeing Mexico to get treatment in the US because their government run healthcare sucks?

There will be no room in the hospitals for US citizens!!

I am furious. I watched Kay Bailey Hutchinson last night on cspan questioning the doctor for the CDC on this very topic and she was WEAK!!

I will not vote for her for governor. I am not a big fan of Perry..but I trust him more than I do her...that is for sure.

I think the point is that if you or a relative are in close contact with someone who will eventually die from this flu, it becomes a very personal crisis to you.

Death of a human being usually is a personal crisis to someone, regardless of the cause. I'm referring to perspective of the so called national swine flu epidemic that Obama and the media are exploiting. Take a step back, get some fresh air, take common sense precautions. Quit feeding the national "crisis" beast that's unfolding 24/7 on the TV news. That's what I'm saying.

Does it matter? They were here to get medical help because the government run healthcare in Mexico is awful. Our healthcare system should be first and foremost for AMERICAN CITIZENS! The border state hospitals are about to be over-run with Mexicans seeking healthcare. Where are the citizens of this country going to turn when they get sick and our hospitals are full of Mexican citizens?

We should be closing the border.... NOW!! If neccessary for humanitarian purposes, we can help Mexico deal with their sick....IN MEXICO!!

....watching the news and hearing about what to look for when confronted by signs of swine flu...headaches,vomiting,high fever,muscle aches...etc etc We are also reminded to DON'T WAIT seek medical help right away when confronted by the symptoms... The worry here is people who don't have medical coverage rush off to the emergency rooms with sniffles..... Well, since I am not following this on network tv, I think I am ok. But, you know how Americans are. Think about the transition to digital tv... who in the US doesn’t know we are transitioning... but there are still notices on broadcast tv every single night.

Let someone litigious get sick and sue because they weren’t warned. I saw someone on here ask why the government wasn’t giving out face masks here?

And, if I did have a child in daycare where another child was sick or died from this, you better believe I want to know and don’t want my child there until it is all clear.

Ignorance is far more dangerous than this flu is, or needs to be. We’ve seen it here on FR, in the cavalier attitudes people are taking to this flu... “Only 0.00000026% of the US population have it so I won’t freak out just yet.” That is one end of the spectrum, not taking it seriously enough. The other end of the spectrum is to panic, or to over-react, such as slaughtering millions of pigs.

I’m an animal person, and I eat meat, and I recognize that we’re talking about pigs that would be slaughtered for meat anyway... But the marketplace can’t handle the wholesale slaughter of millions of pigs at one time (plus they will probably prohibit the sale of the meat, like they did with Mad Cow Disease), so that means the WASTE of all these pigs, and that is a shame by any standards.

And if something like that happens here, those Iowa pig farmers who were impacted by the floods last year are in for a double-whammy. (Oh wait, the 0bamanation will simply do a $50 billion pig farmer bailout.)

The Govt officials who may be considering mass pig slaughters need to get educated. If they feel a need to act to stem public panic, they should have closed the borders, not slaughter pigs who didn’t vacation in Mexico! And barring that, the MOST they should be doing is vaguely CONSIDERING quarantining pig farms until all the details of this virus are learned, by SCIENTISTS, not by over (or under) reacting public opinion, politicians, or the media.

It’s going to get ugly folks, and I don’t mean just the flu itself. If we go to Pandemic, we will see a side of humanity we’ve only seen in movies, and it won’t be pretty. So keep your friends close, and your enemies far, far away.

I think people are concerned because they do not have enough information, we do not know much at all about Mexican victims who have died, except their age, and govt keeps having pressers....is it really bad or is it being used for political purposes by Obama administration. Are they telling us everything...too much, or not enough.
