Breaking now on FNC
I still don’t believe their medical care equals what we can get here, regardless of station.
What about CARRIERS of the disease - the illegals are resistant to what they picked up from the wealthier?
There probably will never be a statistical breakdown, except maybe out of TX and CA later.
Had a Middle-class management-level Mexican at work the other day get hot and sick out of nowhere.... she’s Mestizo.
Attending the University of Texas.
The natives pronounce it "Ballmer, Merlin".
Cheers!
Stay well.
It’s probably not as good, although the interns at one hospital who had been exposed and shown symptoms apparently recieved proper treatment. They were given Tamiflu and whatever else is used for this - and two of them still died. On the other hand, Tamiflu appears to have been pretty effective elsewhere.
BTW, this has nothing to do with “illegals.” The people who are transporting this around are in their majority perfectly legitimate vacationers, and probably the people who brought it to Mexico were also regular travelers. That’s what diseases are like in the age of modern air transport...
Not all of us do. Some of us chafe at that “Bawlmer” thing...nevermind the “Blair” thing...
Yipes. Have there been any cases at UT?
Cheers!
Ruh-Roh!
I’m actually in Ohio right now for college, but my family’s still in Maryland. And of course Ohio’s got its own swine flu case. I take a class called “Development and Control of Weapons of Mass Destruction” and in light of the flu outbreaks, yesterday the prof made a joke and said “I almost came into class wearing a mask today...” That would’ve been amusing.
People whp still insist on going to Mexico should be on home quarantine for 10 day following their return. No exceptions.
Found it online.
They need to take Beaver’s mom off and put Bama’s mug up there.
Couldn’t put that on yer car in Balmer, Hon!
“youz” is NY and Philly.

I’ve heard Babs use “youse”.

I prefer “y’all”, or the full version “you all”.
Never hear many people ever do that NY thing.
If he was in the Navy, did he ever go salein on the Chestpeake?

That, my FRiend, is the most infuriating thing about potentially deadly contagious diseases — that ignorant, arrogant people will make things worse than they have to be.
That’s hugh. And series.
Not making fun, it really is huge. And serious. But I couldn’t help it, I had to use FReeper lexicon.

Actually, from the April 28th update on the WHO website (www.who.int/csr/don/en/), the “reported” numbers from Mexico are 26 cases and 7 deaths. That makes a death rate of 27%.
Obviously that isn’t right, but I don’t know why the WHO website lists only 26 cases/7 deaths for Mexico when we’ve heard much bigger numbers in the news (1500+ cases and 150+ deaths).
This is a dynamic and rapidly evolving situation, so we won’t have a handle on good statistics in real time. That’s frustrating, but it is what it is. All we can do is prepare and take appropriate precautions. Keep spreading the word: Wash your hands often, cover your mouth when coughing/sneezing, protect yourself and protect others. And above all, if you start feeling sick/feverish, STAY HOME.
What would America rather deal with or try to manage, 2,000 sick and ill people, or potentially tens of thousand of potentially infected, entering the U.S. every single day?
