CDC: 'Fully expect we will see deaths'
Apr 28 02:29 PM US/Eastern By MIKE STOBBE ATLANTA (AP)
- A U.S. health official said at least five people are hospitalized with swine flu in the United States and deaths are likely. "I fully expect we will see deaths from this infection," as swine flu cases are investigated, said Richard Besser, acting director of the federal Centers for Disease Control.
He said he did not know about a newspaper report of two deaths in two southern California hospitals in which the victims seemed to be suffering from swine flu symptoms. "I would say I'm very concerned," Besser said.
"We are dealing with a new strain of influenza, we're dealing with a strain of influenza that appears to be moving through our community." Based on the latest lab analysis, Besser said new flu infections are still occurring.
He noted, however, that ordinary human flu accounts for about 36,000 deaths every year in the U.S.
He said hospitalizations nationwide include three in California and two in Texas. Besser said the country has 64 confirmed cases in five states, with 45 in New York, one in Ohio, two in Kansas, six in Texas and 10 in California. At least four other cases have been reported by states.

Ya, colloidal silver is great, Sovereign Silver is good and many other brands. Also, remember, if you get the flu and it starts to go into your chest do ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) one or two teaspoons twice a day in a glass of water, it works like a magic bullet, will stop the chest cold dead in it’s tracks.
Nothing is wrong with Tamiflu IF YOU NEED IT. I just wouldn’t take it until I NEEDED IT. I know some people would like to run out and stock up on it but that isn’t a good idea. Like any drug it could do more harm than good IF YOU DON’T NEED IT.
Pardon me, but I think his 'plan' is to protect them from us since I'm sure he thinks it's our fault somehow.
*lol* (funny but true)
Thank you.
That’s what I thought.
Did you see the UK article? The Pig Farm in Mexico is owned by a company in VIRGINIA..so yeah, it’ll be out fault.
out = our
This isn’t the ‘regular’ flu. This is a strange cocktail and it has a lot of people who know about these things concerned. The WHO and CDC don’t start making pandemic projections every flu season. I don’t think you should panic but I don’t think it’s prudent to take this too lightly.

The first known case of swine flu emerged a fortnight earlier than previously thought in a village where residents have long complained about the smell and flies from a nearby pig farm, it emerged last night.
The Mexican Government said it initially thought that the victim, Edgar Hernandez, 4, was suffering from ordinary influenza but laboratory testing has since shown that he had contracted swine flu. The boy went on to make a full recovery, although it is thought that at least 148 others in Mexico have died from the disease, and the number is expected to rise.
-snip-
The boys hometown, La Gloria, is also close to a pig farm that raises almost 1 million animals a year. The facility, Granjas Carroll de Mexico, is partly owned by Smithfield Foods, a Virginia-based US company and the worlds largest producer and processor of pork products. Residents of La Gloria have long complained about the clouds of flies that are drawn the so-called manure lagoons created by such mega-farms, known in the agriculture business as Confined Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs).
I wouldn't TOUCH colloidal silver and risk the chance my face would be a permanent blueish silver for the rest of my life.
People should always weigh the risks before taking any drug or supplement.

“Why should this flu be any different. People die from flu, swine or otherwise.”
[Polarik, I know you understand the genetic stuff I’m describing much better than I. Please correct me if I’ve made a mistake here]
Honestly, because this isn’t actually SWINE flu, and the rate of death among those in Mexico is higher than a typical flu (and that was before the earthquake). [”Old Fashioned” Swine flu is naturally occurring and those who raise pigs are well aware of it. You catch it from infected animals and it CAN’T be tranferred from an infected human to another human — ONLY through contact with the animal itself. And, AFAIK it’s no more dangerous than catching “human flu”.]
This NEW VIRUS is a genetic combination of 4/5 different “flu” virus strains...
1. North American Swine Flu (animal to human transmission)
2. European Swine Flu (animal to human transmission)
3. Asian Swine Flu (animal to human transmission)
4. North American AVIAN flu (animal to animal transmission - among BIRDS only, AFAIK)
5. Human Influenza strain “A” (Human to Human transmission)
Now you get into the HOW questions — HOW did this virus mutate and combine at the genetic level, and how did these geographically located strains all combine in one place, AND get genetically combined with a strain of AVIAN flu, AND also combine with HUMAN influenza to make a new strain capable of Human to human transmission??? AND, how did it mutate and combine so quickly?
As for death rate — one statistic I saw regarding Mexico was an 8.5% death rate (Spanish Flu was 2.5%). Why that rate is SO high in Mexico when it doesn’t appear to be that high OUTSIDE Mexico could be due to MANY different factors (sanitation, population density, lower quality medical care, poverty, etc... etc...).
Another factor — there are reports that the first cases were actually in MARCH, that authorities KNEW this was a new virus approx. April 4th, and we didn’t hear a peep till April 24th.
While I am not suggesting panic, I also don’t think it’s something anyone should dismiss outright as “no big deal”.
[There is a chance that this was definitely a genetically ENGINEERED virus or BIOLOGICAL WEAPON. Remember also, if this is a terrorist action — actual death isn’t always as important to them as the creation of Fear, and Panic.]
Alcohol is a good cleaning agent, but not necessarily fool proof. It will kill some viruses and bacteria on contact, but again some are event resistant to that. One of the most effective biocides is bleach. I have a feeling that those Clorox wipes are the most effective in killing viruses. Not necessarily good for you physically for wiping your hand all of the time with the stuff, but I would trust that more than alcohol wipes if I am trying to be certain that I have killed the viruses. The bleach wipes are ok to use on occasion, but use only when certain that you might have touched something contaminated.
That’s what I said because he’s not going to do anything useful for us unless the problem badly hurts him in the polls.
Lol— I was thinking the same thing.
You’re not the Freeper gal who’s stockpiling cake mix an frosting, are you?
Amen to that! Good to see you SW!
A Gold Star for your preparedness DC.

That’s up for debate, check out this thread.
