WASHINGTON (AFP) – Barack Obama's historic breakthrough as the first African-American president appears to have reduced racial divisions in the United States, according to a New York Times/CBS News poll published Tuesday.
As the US leader approaches 100 days in office, the survey found that about two-thirds of Americans -- 66 percent -- said race relations are generally good, compared with 53 percent in July.
Twenty-two percent of respondents said US race relations are bad, compared to 37 percent in July.
The survey found that Black Americans remain among Obama's staunchest supporters, with 70 percent of US blacks saying the country is headed in the right direction, compared with 34 percent of whites.

I don’t think so. They don’t have a clue how all this BS is going to back fire.
Perhaps it’s my imagination, but it seems that African-Americans seem to be more open and friendlier than prior to Obama taking office. Just my opinion.

They’re probably right.. Last year in July, the Racist blacks and the guilt ridden whites weren’t sure they were going to get their way. Now they have, so they’re happy with it.
It may have reduced black hatred towards whites but I’m not holding my breath.
Let’s see... we had a white President and race relations were described as bad. We have a black President and race relations are described as good. There hasn’t been any substantive change in race relations. So what does that tell you about the individuals who were ‘creating’ the negative race relations?
Well, they are partially correct. Blacks for the most part are probably thinking relations are better, particularly since ‘their man’ is now in charge. However, they are really oblivious to any opposing views notwithstanding. I’d venture to guess that the NYT survey included an inordinately large black sample.
I have trouble believing this... We’re only 100 days in and I think there is a bunch wondering when their redistribution pie is going to be delivered...

Baulfaced lie. Racial divisions will disappear on their own, not due some bogus Messiah who wants to KEEP poor black people, poor (destroys job producers), segregated (no school vouchers), and dependent (obvious).
This from a minority group that consists of about 12 percent of the total population.
Blacks have proved how racist andself-centered they are by 97 percent of them voting for the Obamination.
H'mmmm...after 98+% of them voted for Obama? That could mean that at least 28% have now fallen away from the Socialist In Chief's economic direction...
Blacks will continue to think relations are better until they can’t get all the crap obozo promised them. Then they will claim whitey is blocking it all.
