I’m not surprised either, but talk about giving your constituents the middle finger!

IMHO he knew he was gonna lose the primary election and the guy running against already way in the lead. Guess he don’t have a lfe outside DC and grabbing at staws to stay there

True.

It could also be an indication that while Conservatism is a potent philosophy, it may never be strong enough to dominate the political scene. The Country has drifted towards the left.

Just my opinion of course.....;-)

“and as a democrat I doubt he supports us on anything”

Then he is a PHONY and I wouldn’t then want him around anyhow.

How was voting for him and voting for an actual so-named democrat different in any way?

Because then Democrats don't get a majority in the senate? One more Republican, even in name only, gets Republicans closer to chairing committees and makes things harder for Democrats to ram down legislation.

They already have 60 votes on 99% of what they want if you take in consideration that the 3 or 5 liberal Republicans will be voting with them. It does not bode a shit. Good riddance of a liberal Republican.

Why didn’t the weasel switch last year? The words I have for him would get me banned before I could hit “Post”.

Yes they can.

“The US Constitution explicitly grants each senator a six-year term, and no state has the right to terminate a senator before his time is up.

A few years ago, the Supreme Court struck down state laws imposing term limits on members of the House of Representatives. A similar logic applies to attempts by states to alter senatorial terms. Any effort to recall any senator is unconstitutional.”

BRUCE ACKERMAN, Professor of Constitutional Law at Yale University.

In 1967 there was an unsuccessful attempt to recall Senator Frank Church of Idaho. The courts ruled that federal elected officials are not subject to state recall laws and there is no federal recall law on the books.

I can’t stand politicians who don’t stand for anything (I know, most don’t). At least Spector is honest as to his reasons for becoming a rat, he’s switching simply for the sake of his career and legacy. What a self-absorbed narcissist. And these people who make these absurd statements that the Republican party has gone too far to the right, was McCain to the right of Reagan?

I respect and understand that opinion yet I think complacency bit conservatives in the ass this last election. I voted mind you and worked against the socialist rats as I do every day yet .......too many stayed home IMO.

Too many were just to lazy to get up on election day and go vote. As well .....the options were dirt or trash between the two idiots that were running for the office. That alone was a major factor in this lost election.

Just my opinion......:o)

Hey, do you think that was part of the deal when he voted for the stimulus? We know he got a hefty sum for cancer research because he has cancer. But was the other part that if it hurt his re election, obama would find funds for him in the democratic election?

pay to play obama way.

Not that I’m bitter or anything, but my take on Sphincter leaving the GOP is:

GOOD BYE AND GOOD RIDDANCE YOU ARROGANT, SELF SERVING POS RINO!!!!! I HOPE YOU BURN IN HELL, AND OH HOW QUICKLY I CURSE YOU TO GET THERE! I HOPE YOUR A** GETS HANDED TO YOU IN THE NEXT ELECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, on to my next comment: Their goes our guns folks! With Sphincter leaving and Al Franken(furter) stealing the Minnesota election (with the help of all those Minnesota liberals), the Senate will be filibuster proof...I can see NO good coming from that! First the guns, then the soup lines...

Sadly, I don’t think the American people really give a damn about their individual rights anymore, as long as they get their monthly handout. Hopefully I’m wrong, and some of this liberal Demo-rat bs will push conservatives to take back their Country and turn Congress over in 2010, but the damage will be done by then!

...as long as they get their monthly handout.

Wait until they find out there is no monthly handout and it was all campaign promises.
