Will Snowe and Collins follow soon??Given how liberal their state is, they are unlikely to get any serious (or even slightly serious) primary challenges. So, no, they probably won't switch.

Hey, National RNC leadership. Please do the honorable thing:
Please step aside and let the true conservatives run the party...
Obviously, moderate-ism ain't doing it -- now is it?

Translation: Specter knows he is going to lose his primary so he is jumping ship to find ANY primary he can win.
IOW Specter is thinking he will keep his union support and not have to suffer any loss of support.
I wonder what this does for those democrats who wanted to run against him.

Don’t forget amnesty. If passed that will marry the Hispanic vote to the Democrats and it is game over. The only hope then would be for things to get so bad under the Democrats that it is practically a revolution.

Absolutely infuriating. They have the 60 votes now, and Specter said a few months ago he would never switch.
What a little punk.
The sad thing is, running as Dem, he will probably win again and take the seat from the GOP.
It is Pennsylvania after all.......very likely he will win as the Dem candidate. He just knew he couldn’t win as a Republican again.
Say bye to that seat...Toomey will lose.

When I supported the stimulus package, I knew that it would not be popular with the Republican Party. But, I saw the stimulus as necessary to lessen the risk of a far more serious recession than we are now experiencing.

In which world does he live? People are getting laid off and furloughed right and left or allowed to work only reduced work weeks.
I think the pres__ent, his administration and the congress have made the climate for business untenable for the majority of investors and entrepeneurs.

Short term, this is bad news for the GOP.
Long term, this is GREAT news for conservatives. Guys like Specter are primarily why the Republican brand is in the toilet with average Americans.

It would make things much easier.
Unfortunately, the odds of it happening are about the same as my odds of winning the Powerball tonight. ;-)

What does Specter expect to get from being a Democrat? It's not like Leahy will move aside and give up his Judiciary Committee Chairmanship.
Will Republicans remove Specter from his committee assignments? Do Democrats have enough slots to keep Specter on the committees he's currently on now?

How was voting for him and voting for an actual so-named democrat different in any way?

I couldn't agree more.
We need younger people, more education of people through ads and internet, a younger face, and a positive attitude.
So far, we are batting zero on these things. I am not one to despair, but I am a realist.
Conservative issues do NOT always win, especially if we let the other side present us as bitter losers who don't care about the poor, the sick, etc.
I am disgusted. Back to working on my garage sale and llistening to Rush.
To: henkster
The problem is that theyve got their lock on 60 until 2010. There is no stopping the socialist blitzkrieg that will get rammed through in the next 12 months.
LOL. Like there ever was any hope of stopping most of it with Specter as a Republican. He could not be counted on for anything.
Hooray for truth in advertising!
