Mary Norman, president of Auburn (AL) Heritage Association, said she was at her family's burial plot in Pine Hill Cemetery when Councilman Arthur Dowdell removed the small Confederate flag from her great-grandfather's grave Thursday afternoon.
"He pulled up the flag, snapped it in two and put it in his car," said Norman, who is white.

As far as I'm concerned, this is a hate crime on his part.
It is at the very least, desecration of a grave site and theft of personal property.
The man is a racist.
Pure and simple.
It goes against liberal conventional wisdom and makes thier heads explode.
Tolerance is only for we whiteys. NAACP and most liberals have no tolerance for any beliefs and heritage other than the one’s they subscribe. The round mouth Democrats preach tolerance yet have none...they’re closer to the Communist than they are to our Republic.
Alabaman’s know where he lives ... they need to muster up the same brand of courage that blatantly desecrated a sacred site and redeem the honor of a man who fought and died for an equally, if not more, belief in righteousness and patriotism.

(a) Any person who willfully or maliciously injures, defaces, removes or destroys any tomb, monument, gravestone or other memorial of the dead, or any fence or any inclosure about any tomb, monument, gravestone or memorial, or who willfully and wrongfully destroys, removes, cuts, breaks or injures any tree, shrub, plant, flower, decoration, or other real or personal property within any cemetery or graveyard shall be guilty of a Class A misdemeanor.
But will anything happen to the councilman?

According to The World Almanac and Book of Facts, 2007, the slave trade with Africa was abolished in the Constitution of the Confederacy, dated March 11, 1861.

Yes, it's called Stockholm Syndrome.
So? The slave trade with Africa had been illegal since 1807 in the United States. Though illegal, it was generally tolerated in much of the South. Slaves continue to be owned and sold, despite the ban on new imports.
