NEWARK, N.J. (CBS) ―
Thousands were expected to attend a rally in northern New Jersey on Saturday to push for comprehensive immigration reform.
The "Family Unity" day rally is part of a national effort to end deportations and raids that immigration activists say destroy families.
Among those expected to attend were several federal lawmakers, including U.S. Senator Robert Menendez and Rep. Albio Sires, both D-N.J.
A consortium of churches, national and local immigration advocates and individuals have been organizing prayer vigils, town-hall meetings and rallies in 20 U.S. cities.
The New Jersey gathering took place at the Jesus Christ is Savior Church in Elizabeth.
According to the Pew Hispanic Center, there are 11.9 million "unauthorized immigrants" in the United States.

“Thousands showed up for tea parties, but how many anticipatory news items were there?”
It is worse than that. The illegal immigrant rally was clearly held yesterday...yet the report gives no numbers of how many actually showed up...only the ‘anticipated numbers’! (eye roll)
This report says ‘hundreds’ showed up...not thousands.

What about this, Janet Napolitano?
Gee, it would be a shame to have all exposed to swine flu.
This will get immense coverage, and their unity will show. As the Conservative unity wanes, the Marxist will get the immigration reform they have unified to obtain. The Marxist seem to believe in their cause much more than the Conservatives believe in theirs’. The proof is showing in Washington, D.C., and many State as well as Local governments.
I intend to e-mail them.
How do we rebel rouse Tea Party goers to take to the streets? Maybe should tell our congress members if the borders are not EFFECTIVELY secured by May 1...we will be having our own MAY 1 protests...even if they clash with the ones being planned by illegals.
When they come out of the shadows and into the light. Arrest them !
According to the Pew Hispanic Center, there are 11.9 million "unauthorized immigrants" illegal invaders in the United States. There, fixed it. I'm sick of the MSM calling them "unauthorized" anything! They're ILLEGAL.
Ping!
And probably half of Mexico is being claimed as dependents by Illegals working in the US who fill out Tax Returns. Someone I know who employs illegals told me that one of the employees wanted to claim two children in their 20's living and working in Mexico as dependents. Their lawyer told them they could do that. Our government is about as corrupt as they come. There are reasons they are trillions in debt.
Example: Thousands were expected to attend a rally in northern New Jersey on Saturday to push for comprehensive immigration reform. Does that mean not as many showed as anticipated?
We're then told Among those expected to attend were several federal lawmakers. Which leads one to believe it written prior to the event. However when the article ends with The New Jersey gathering took place at the Jesus Christ is Savior Church in Elizabeth, I suspect the event wasn't well attended and the writer deliberately kept that from the reader.

Fifteen years ago a lawyer in El Paso received a large manilla envelope full of SSI, WIC, and several other kinds of benefits checks for several hundred different people supposedly in the U.S. but who actually lived in Juarez, Mexico. The lawyer recognized several of the names because he had represented them in U.S. courts. His name was a common one, I won’t repeat it but it is the Mexican equivalent of John Jones, and the envelope had a faulty address on it, so it was delivered to the lawyer John Jones. The person the envelope was intended for apparently set up a scheme where they were delivered to someone at a convenience address in El Paso, they were then collected and sent to him, and he passed them out to the beneficiaries on the other side of the border — a hugely fraudulent scheme. The lawyer was stunned and turned the envelope over to the state welfare agency. Apparently it is as easy as pie for Mexicans to cross the border, sign up for benefits, and scuttle home to wait for us suckers to support them. Another situation I know about first-hand: Every dinky little town along the Mexican border has a post office with hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of post office boxes, many more boxes in fact that people living in the towns. Wonder why.
