Patient Zero (April 2, Politico): A fatigued-looking president — who sneezed twice while facing the world’s press — said he has been fighting a cold all week.

You should take a look at “The Stand.” Even if you’re not a Stephen King fan. A lot of people who dislike the rest of his works have found it to be one of their favorite books of all time.

Laws, yes. Everybody knows that. Even Tom Cullen knows that.

What is the word when you’re half-desultory and half-skeered?

Guess we’ll have to see how the MSM bleats about it tomorrow.

And here in the US, Obama announces a new 24 hour television station which will carry his speeches continuously, interrupted by live speeches by himself. Oh, and all other stations are herewith closed by Imperial Order, on pain of death.

That should save a few power plants all by itself. Think of the amount of electricity that won't be used with all those TV sets turned off.

Not sure...

However this strain does seem suspect.. We need to have our eyes and ears working in overdrive right now.

Thank you Joe, I do appreciate the pings. I wonder what tomorrow will bring.

I predict larger numbers and more cities. Is your food storage in good shape? It might be a good time to limit exposure to public places.

Oh. My. Gawd. My closest coworker ate pork sausage that smelled “a little funny yesterday morning and then a couple of hours later said he felt sick, cold sweat, nauseated. He thought he had a touch of food poisoning, but then I read about the Swine-Avian-Human flu, and I was all like, uh-oh.

You cannot get swine flu from eating pork products.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring.

I reckon we'll have to wait and see if the official numbers come closer to the unofficial ones coming out of Mexico.

Someone mentioned that the official ones are verified, so there will be a lag involved.

We might want to keep an eye on the CDC data as well.

I'd check the pantry, just in case and make sure you have enough bottled water on hand for a few days, minimum.

Have you read William Forstchen's new one. It is titled "One Second After" and is about an EMP strike on the US and the aftermath in a small NC town. It is well worth the read.

It’s out on DVD. Look on Ebay if you want to purchase it or it should be available for rental. 366 minutes long though.

Wasn’t it on TV?

Yes. An ABC six hour miniseries in 1994. It's available on DVD. Very good adaptation of the book. But the book (all 1200 pages in hardcover) is a masterpiece.

Yes and yes. Curious that the strain is much more severe in Mexico than in the U.S. Still, hunker down time seems to be around the corner.
