Top link now on Drudge- from article:
The first case was seen in Mexico on April 13. The outbreak coincided with the President Barack Obamas trip to Mexico City on April 16. Obama was received at Mexicos anthropology museum in Mexico City by Felipe Solis, a distinguished archeologist who died the following day from symptoms similar to flu, Reforma newspaper reported. The newspaper didnt confirm if Solis had swine flu or not.
Yes, Geraldo was scaring people. He had on that guy who wrote a book on pandemics who was going nuts and acting like any minute we were all going to drop dead.
The author/doc wanted all schools closed immediately.
Katrina Redux.
That's okay. Clinton spread quite a few diseases in his day.
No doubt. Didn’t Bush stockpile Tamiflu during the bird flu scare? It would seem to me that Obama had better start getting those drugs passed out among the states ASAP!
hoping...
So you're saying we're all dorked and need to panic now?
“The author/doc wanted all schools closed immediately.”
I’d be happy if they would just close the d@#% borders! I am sure Geraldo didn’t mention that idea..(eye roll)
Typhoid Barry
Fortunately, no one important went on that trip. I still hope they will remain healthy, but this flu is not a threat to key national leaders.
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooo
...
The fact that a cardiac arrest was the thing that killed this man is being used on another thread to suggest that being worried about Obama catching the flu from this guy is silly.
My question is this — Would a coroner in stating cause of death list it as “acute myocardial infarction”, or do they go on to list all of the “as a complication of” indicators as well? I don’t often look at death certificates!
For instance, I know that my mother’s cause of death was massive organ failure, but I don’t know if on her death certificate they included the fact that she was in a stroke-induced coma for months before that, and I don’t know if they also included the fact that the strokes themselves were brought on by a diabetic crisis...
I guess what I’m trying to say is that just because this man died of a heart attack, and had other medical problems doesn’t mean that this flu wasn’t the precipitating event and that his body couldn’t fight it off DUE to the pre-existing conditions. After all, in the articles it says that this attacks mostly those in the ‘prime of life’ in the worst way. I’m not aware that they have said it DOESN’T affect others in other age groups (especially immuno-compromised groups like this man belonged to).
Does anyone have any information to share that can help me understand these topics better as I read these articles?
THANKS.
I’m going to continue to endeavor to restrain my fingers from this thread.
Smells like a bizarre assassination attempt to me.
Thanks for the link... Will go look at that in a few. :)
I’m not saying it’s bioterrorism, but it could be.
An odd kind of quick onset illness that’s killing people? As I said it seems way too early to rule anything in or out. With the BBC reporting hundreds instead of tens dead in Mexico, it sets off some weird warning bells.
I would prefer it to be something natural, but it seems kind of freakish in its nature.
I don’t know the mind of a terrorist, but I would never put it past evil men to sow the seeds of an apolocalyptic-type illness.
Cooler heads prevail, but what if this starts wiping out thousands of people. It would cause panic and chaos, which along with fear, are the prime goals of terrorists.
This stuff makes me want to step back and take a deep breath. The skeptic in me wants to believe this is a manufactured media crisis to distract from 0bama's nefarious plans. On the other hand, it is concerning to contemplate what could happen if this is real. What a world we live in when the media is so manipulated by puppet masters.
NO, definitely not — besides, even if this was an “end of the world” all-out panic type situation — well, I’m the type to turn to God, and he says NOT to be afraid. So, instead of panicking, I’d say it’s time to crack open that Bible that perhaps has been sitting on the shelf gathering dust for a while (hopefully the Bible doesn’t have dust though — if it had a THICK layer of dust THEN I might panic! LOL). :)
That stuff is terrifying.
None of them took power in the strongest nation in the world. I am worried.
I wasn’t sure what your post to me referred to??
Indeed....I know that. Both you and BP2 are very good, old knowledgeable FReppers.
When it is time to panic......well, FR will prob be shut down anyway....;)
