WASHINGTON, April 24 (Reuters) - The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Friday it was too late to contain the swine flu outbreak in the United States.
CDC acting director Dr. Richard Besser told reporters in a telephone briefing it was likely too late to try to contain the outbreak, by vaccinating, treating or isolating people.
"There are things that we see that suggest that containment is not very likely," he said.
He said the U.S. cases and Mexican cases are likely the same virus. "So far the genetic elements that we have looked at are the same." But Besser said it was unclear why the virus was causing so many deaths in deaths in Mexico and such mild disease in the United States.

Biden is going to IL on Monday, TX on Tues. Obama to go to Missouri on Mon or Tuesday I think-
Been a long time since I've seen that one.
CDC, can’t do anything... right.
Depopulation ping.
And... other serious news:
106 Blank Birth Certificates ‘with seals’ missing in NYC
I’m also sure everyone knows about the incident re: Delta NY to Tel Aviv attempted cockpit run, detoured to Logan.

Already they’re starting with mentally unstable in some reports. Yep, a condition that only drives you to charge the cockpit. I’ll see what they say... we got tweets from the plane.
“SARS was only the beginning...
PANDEMIC
a novel by Daniel Kalla”:
“Genesis of a plague
Right now, in a remote corner of rural China, a farmer and his family are sharing their water supply with their livestock: chickens, ducks, pigs, sheep. They share the same waste disposal system, too.
Bird viruses meet their human counterparts in the bloodstreams of the swine, where they mix and mutate before spreading back into the human population.
And a new flu is born...”

Let’s see-shopping list against the Flu

Damn I miss Michael Crichton...
And it came from pigs; a recombinant of human, porcine, and avian virii...?
It's H1N1 IIRC. Let's hope H5N1 isn't taking notes...
“Besser said it was unclear why the virus was causing so many deaths in deaths in Mexico and such mild disease in the United States.”
How about the fact that 40 million Americans were vaccinated against the Swine Flu in 1976... I know I was part of the team who did it... nineteen counties in North Texas...
I took my shot...
So far reports say that most of the people stricken are between the ages of early twenties and mid forties - very odd except when you take into consideration that 33 years ago 40 million men, women and children were vaccinated — just add it up age wise.
By the way — this ‘Swine Flu’ of 2009 should be called (hence forth) The Mexican Flu in honor of its origins in a Third World SLUM - Mexico City ...
If we can have the Hong Kong Flu in 1968 we can now have The Mexican Flu of 2009...
I’m definitely wide awake.
Considering who's in line for the presidency if something happens to him. Yes.
Something happening to BO is a lose/lose situation.
I understand that flu vaccines only offered limited time protection. That’s why doctors don’t give out the flu shots too early in the season.
How could that one be good for 30 years?
Somehow, I just don't see that it's too late. A couple hundred million people has got to take some time for a virus to spread to.
Our old friends...Curcumin, NAC, resveratrol, elderberry...I have to run out in the morning and replenish the curcuminoids. I’m not much worried about potency in my emergency stores... kept cool for last 2-3 years. All I’ve discarded is monocycline...can become somewhat toxic.
Decent summary piece...

During the last go round of flu preparation I picked up a Russian drug commonly used for flu there as well as a uric acid drug, Probenecid, that can improve absorption of the others.
It would seem that since the CDC was caught with their collective pants down - there is no vaccine available that covers the genome of the combo — Swine Flu /Avian flu / human flu that they are observing...
Unless a targeted vaccine was developed and then reproduced in mass quantities practically overnight (which is neigh on impossible) — then there is not much that can be done - it would take several weeks - if not months... the flu will sweep American in a few short weeks and be endemic in short order.
How virulent the virus is or become is the real question... if it is a very mild flu to Americans - then it will just be a big costly pain in the arse... But if the virus is hard hitting with severe respiratory side effects - bronchitis and / or pneumonia — then WATCH OUT!!!
Plus due to litigation craziness in the U.S. all our flu vaccine is produced elsewhere - last time I read it was produced in the U.K.
You will see some reports in the literature of resistance carried over from year to year. I believe that some people alive in 1918 (over 90 y.o. now), still have vestigial resistance to the Spanish Flu.
Sounds engineered.
I guess at this stage it’s stupid to ask re: reports of dead birds or swine?
