Let's help these folks understand why they can't find work, placing the blame squarely on the Democrats and their bad fiscal policies.
We can offer a care package or greeting card with a little cash or gift, to get out the truth about Democrat's high tax rates punishing the achievers is causing them trouble finding work.
Tactfully done, we can counter the damage Democrats, ACORN and the media are doing. Showing them some kindness and understanding for their situation, like start a greeting with "I know it must be hard for you to not find work, and have to come out here and rely on the kindness of strangers" then add a brief explanation or some words of wisdom like we share here.
Now, of course if you live in a dangerous area, you may not want to do this, although opening the door and putting out a care package can be done at a safe distance, don't drop or throw, but wave and smile as you drive off.
Yes, I have thought this may not be a good idea, but I think the good will out-weight the bad, a toothbrush, some crackers, disposable rain poncho, pop, and a note on the rotten Democrat policies, we won't get through to all of them, but some will know we are trying to help them get jobs;
Jobs that would be available in all areas of the country if lower tax rates and good business conditions, instead Democrats taxed profit from the employers, and now they are waiting for the Obama Administration and the Democrat Congress to slowly piece-meal mostly construction jobs to millions across the nation who NEED work in ALL sectors NOW
I don't usually offer anything to these freeway exit beggars, but I think we can use this as a 'teaching moment'. It saddening that anyone would come up with a way to deal with this kind of situation that is becoming all too common, thanks to Democrats and Rino's
This phenomenon has been around a long time. There’s actually an original Sherlock Holmes mystery (yes, by Arthur Conan Doyle) that revolves around it: “The Man with the Twisted Lip.” It’s a great story.
What makes you think they want it?
Are you sure you're listening to the right God?
What you are doing is encouraging the beggars, and that's the last thing they need.
my first thought as well
That verse is the most effective concept that exists to fight poverty.
This is the truth, our local TV station did a Doc. on this, and followed the people to their homes, very nice homes by the way.
I do all my donations through my Church only, or someone comes to me personally needing help. That's it.
I had just gotten news my grandaunt had died and was meetig up with a friend, so I could forget my grief for a while. I had stopped for a sub beforehand and only had half left. I saw a man with a sign asking for food. I gave him the half I had left and told him it was only half, but was all I had. He genuinely seemed grateful when he said, “Thank you and God Bless you. Drive safely.”
It’s a teaching moment, there are some folks that actually would prefer a job, yes there are bums that will never work anyhow, but I am willing to give to all for the few who are on hard times that would work given opportunity
Yes, I am listening to the right God, and if I just fed a beggar for a meal, maybe someone else would receive the attached note
I think some fail to recognize this has 2 parts, one is a care for that beggar, the second is the wisdom and guidance we can offer, so no, I am not kidding, example;
“I know it must be hard for you to not find work, and have to come out here and rely on the kindness of strangers, I wish the best for you and am writing Minnesota House Of Representive Tim Walz and Senator Klobachar and President Obama to cut taxes so all businesses can hire, their picking and choosing who to bail-out isn’t working and it just taxes all businesses to favor their chosen few”
I gave a pathetic beggar $5. yesterday. He was old, thin, ragged, almost toothless, he is past helping himself. If a beggar is fairly young, fit and appears to be able to work I don’t give them anything. But if they are very old, missing a limb or has a dog, I am an easy touch. I think they rent or borrow dogs while begging so they have to also have some of the other things along with the dog.
Yep, recognizing and offering that kind of kindness to our fellow humans isn’t always easy, but when the moment is right, you know it. I think we have both appreciated the blessing through a stranger, and God knows what is wrong with their lives, hopefully that enriching moment continues to shine for the folks who would be inspired
Hahahaha! I’m assuming your joking, right? Our bums stand on the street islands and I never see anyone fork over a dime. My grandson, when he was young, started digging in his pocket to give a bum some of his money and I just asked him “how long is this light, how much money do you see passing along while we’re sitting here. Figure that times thirty, if the light is set for one minute, then figure who’s making more money per hour, him or you”. Just hand them a bottle of Old Popskull and have done with it. The bums get lunch and usually dinner at the mission or one of the churches, so it doesn’t go for food, and clothes are, of course, free.
