Romney: 'Obama has failed his early foreign policy tests' (CNN)
CNN ^ | 4/21/2009 | Sarah Parker

Posted on 04/21/2009 9:49:45 AM PDT by SonOfDarkSkies

"As American soldiers sacrificed blood in Afghanistan and Iraq to defend liberty, President Obama shrank from defending liberty here in the Americas," Romney wrote. "Vice President Biden was right that the new president would be tested early in his administration. What the world learned was not good news for freedom and democracy. The leader of the free world has been a timid advocate of freedom at best. And bold action to blunt the advances of tyrants has been wholly lacking."

The former candidate for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination said Obama may have failed in his early foreign-policy tests, but that he hopes the president will offer more than "silence, smiles, and a handshake" when dealing with foreign nations and leaders in the future.

I like Romney.

He’s not a real right winger like me, but I would put definitely put him to the right of center.

2012 - Romney/Palin or Pomney/Bachmann, Romney/Sandford ?

This should be the message of the Republican Senate. My Friend™.

And to think, we’re only in the first 100 days of the administration.

Romney, my boy, he's already 'offering' more:

Cuts in our nukes only
Publishing secret interrogation techniques
Cutting the Defense budget
Defining gun-owners as criminals
Deferring to the U.N. on pretty much everything that affects America

Shall I go on? Your 'hope' is sadly misplaced.

Replacing a leftist with another leftist is still dealing with leftist politics! No leftists of ANY KIND, at any political level, ever, including, but not limited to, RINOs and GOP elitists!

I definitely would have preferred voting for Romney over McCain in 2008... but during the primary the NH Union Leader endorsed McCain over Romney and... well... go figure.

I wasn’t a Romney supporter back during the primary season, but he would be manna from heaven compared to Obama!

While I have no problem with you posting a blog in News instead of Blogs...

It pisses me off when FReepers link to the blog itself and not the specific article.

Which is........ http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/04/21/romney-obama-has-failed-his-early-foreign-policy-tests/

He really badly wants to become President. He has to play the act now to fool conservatives. He can’t hide his pro-gay, pro-abortion, pro-socialist past regardless how hard he tries to look “conservative” now. The moment he has secured the nomination, you’ll see the real Romney.

Romney’s father was the antiwar candidate in 68. The Romney’s were leaders in the anti conservative movement of Goldwater/Reagan with Mitt and his father storming our of the 1964 convention in protest of Goldwater and the conservative movement.

Mitt Romney dropped his republican registration during the Reagan years since Mitt was anti conservative, in fact for years he only gave money to liberal democrats until 1993 when he also re registered Republican so that he could run for office against Ted Kennedy, who he ran to the left of in many areas.

Today Romney invokes Reagan every chance that he can.

Very direct talk from Mitt.

The words spoken by the leader of the free world can expand the frontiers of freedom or shrink them. When Ronald Reagan called on Gorbachev to “tear down this wall,” a surge of confidence rose that would ultimately breach the bounds of the evil empire. It was the same confidence that had been ignited decades earlier when John F. Kennedy declared to a people surrounded by Communism that they were not alone. “We are all Berliners,” he said, because “freedom is indivisible, and when one man is enslaved, all are not free.”

Such words of solidarity, of confidence, and of unwavering conviction that America is indeed “the last best hope on earth” are what freedom’s friends would have expected to hear from our president when our nation was slandered. Instead he offered silence, smiles, and a handshake.

I like the conclusion quite a bit...

"Vice President Biden was right that the new president would be tested early in his administration. What the world learned was not good news for freedom and democracy. The leader of the free world has been a timid advocate of freedom at best. And bold action to blunt the advances of tyrants has been wholly lacking..."

This is excellent and tough talk from Romney and so good to hear! If he keeps going this way, he is going to capture the nomination in 2012! : )
