Hate Crime Bill or “Thought Crime” Bill?
The Voice Magazine ^ | April 21, 2009 | Sherea Atkins

How the Hate Crime Legislation could be an Infringement of Free Speech and Religion.

On Wednesday, April 22, the House Judiciary Committee is scheduled to vote on so-called "hate crimes" legislation, which would give "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" the same federal protection as race. If enacted, it would provide federal assistance to state and local law enforcement to prosecute hate crimes. It would also authorize the federal government to investigate crimes where the victim was targeted because he or she belongs to one of the protected groups.

I wonder about whether it should be called a “thought crime”. After all, long before hate crimes corrupted our system, intent was always considered in the degree of crime committed. Intent, of course, is alol inside the head.

When I said hate crimes corrupted our system, I mean they stepped all over the tradition of not considering motive an element of the crime. Ignore what cop shows focus on, motive is irrelevent. It cannot be used to convict anyone, unless they hurt blacks/gays/trannies, in which case motive is king.

I puke on your corruption!

In maryland the police investigate ‘hate incidents’ that are not a crime due to first amendment. But lying to them about it (denying it) is a crime. example, writing a slur using chalk on a sidewalk.

Hate Crimes are Thought Crimes. By definition they must be> Therefore we are, and have been, under the jurisdiction of our own version of the KempeTai.

From hidden, shunned perversion to "protected group" in 30 years...

Whod'a thought?

Do you suppose that anyone has introduced Federal Legislation to protect normal people in their place of worship from disruption destruction and desecration by extreme GLT freaks?
Is that a Federal crime yet?

Hate Crime=Thought Crime.

It has to. For the law to apply, the law must understand your intent.

This is a pet peeve of mine. A crime is a crime, and a life is a life. It makes no difference if a murder occurs due to racism or sadism. The end result is the same.

I find it interesting that you and I used nearly the same verbiage to describe this. I didn’t see your post before I posted.

We agree.

"Future Crime Police"

I suppose they will have to release tons of murderers, burglars, assaulters, dope dealers, muggers and assorted darlings to make room for all the "thought criminals."

Or build a lot more jails.
I thought we had a funding crisis.
No, I did not say a violent crime crisis...

Hey, I'm a heterosexual, middle-aged white male... you wouldn't believe the thought crimes I've been exposed to whenever I go into town.

Will I be covered in this new "thought crime" bill?

Even Janet Napolitano engages in thought crimes every waking moment of her life. Will the DOJ take custody of her?

The Communist Judiciary Committee will push it. I doubt the Democrats from Red States would vote for it. If( big if) the GOP has spine in the Senate then I believe the Blue Dogs will come along. But, Commie poser “President” will try to end run around this with help from the UN.
