We can paraphrase — they don’t own the news.
He was a private contractor who was shot while photo/video monitoring a Phoenix highway. The story is a little confusing as it says that a suspect is in custody bit the suspect vehicle, which is on the video, is being sought.

People are getting fed up with all the government cameras everywhere and for-profit prisons,red-light and speed cams are even worse.
I'm surprised there hasn't been more destruction of the automated cameras.
Some few people are going to react violently. Most of us have too much to lose or better sense.

Some effed up comments at that link... On both sides of the argument.
I feel sorry for the Enforcers getting caught in what's coming. This guy didn't deserve to die, he was just a convenient symbol of the growing oppression in our Government that someone decided to take retribution against.
It's sad. It's regrettable. But I predict that there will be more of this to come. Government, doing what governments do to protect themselves, will use incidences like this to crack down on those of us still trying to follow their laws.

It was senseless to seek retribution on the guy driving the van. The person who sent him is the oppressor.
Though if it gets too dangerous to be the “face” of oppression, they might have trouble finding folks to fill these roles.

Interesting that Napaletano ordered the camera systems to be used. Another example of large scale civilian surveillance? Maybe trying to locate all the right wing extremists.

It is interesting to note that while the photo radar did not get the license of the suspect’s car, it did get “streaming video” of the car.

Then-Gov. Janet Napolitano, now the U.S. Homeland Security secretary, had ordered DPS to begin developing the system in early 2007. She also was instrumental in writing the 2008 budget law that launched the program in September.
To: Towed_Jumper
Looks like the shooter's intention worked.
RedFlex, the private company operating the DPS photo cameras pulled all their vehicles and people out of safety concerns.
Can't say I'm sympathetic to them at all.

Actually if you do view these cameras ,etc. as oppression it makes perfect sense to go after the operator.Adolf Hitler may have been the oppressor but it was the guy in the Wehrmacht uniform right in front of you that had to be taken out first.
