So...a president is blatantly, publically targeting his political enemies with our own "public servants."

Yea...that's ok'd in the Constitution...

I also wonder what the Obama administration and Congress are doing behind our backs while this little fiasco is coming to light.

I have spent the evening watching Michelle Phillips host a PBS special on the music of the 60's. On first glance it was funny to see all of the acid rockers of my youth standing on stage looking well, so very old and singing the very same songs many of our parents and grandparents would hear and say "Damned hippies." LOL!

Eric Burton sang "It's my life and I'll do what I want" looking as if he just stepped off a Carribean Cruise Ship, but he still had the fire.

It is like going to a high school reunion and wondering why everyone else looked so old...

But I digress....I cannot help but think how the tables have turned since then. Conservatives are the "fringe". Conservatives are the protesters who are mocked and scorned by the "establishment."

When I first read this thread I thought of "For What It's Worth" (Buffalo Springfield). It could be our theme song. They are gunning for us. I agree with the poster who said (either here or on another thread) it was no accident this report was "leaked" right before the Tea Parties.

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Anyone who has a mind to take a trip down memory lane should listen to many of those songs. I was rather shocked at how many could be songs of the conservative movement.
No special point to this, except I am just pondering the ironies of life. (I only had 1 Margarita tonight, I swear!)

A footnote??????? that comment may be more insulting than the original report...which was the nastiest piece of work I have ever seen.

What a great week. I learned I am a bigger threat to the United States then Islamofascists because I oppose abortion, oppose illegal immigration, support the 2nd Amendment, served in the military and don’t drink Obama-Aid. I also learned that I am a redneck racist because I attended a TEA Party from Janeane Garafalo. My how I have stumbled this week. I suck.

Federal Lawsuit Filed Against Janet Napolitano Over Homeland Security’s Rightwing Extremism Policy

Thursday, April 16, 2009

ANN ARBOR, MI – The Thomas More Law Center, a national public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, announced today that it has filed a federal lawsuit against Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. The lawsuit claims that her Department’s “Rightwing Extremism Policy, ” as reflected in the recently publicized Intelligence Assessment, “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment, ” violates the civil liberties of combat veterans as well as American citizens by targeting them for disfavored treatment on account of the political beliefs. http://wnd.com/images/dhs-rightwing-extremism.pdf and http://www.thomasmore.org/downloads/sb_thomasmore/ComplaintAgainstDepartmentofHomelandSecurity.pdf

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan on behalf of nationally syndicated conservative radio talk show host Michael Savage, Gregg Cunningham (President of the pro-life organization Center for Bio-Ethical Reform, Inc (CBR)), and Iraqi War Marine veteran Kevin Murray. The Law Center claims that Napolitano’s Department (DHS) has violated the First and Fifth Amendment Constitutional rights of these three plaintiffs by attempting to chill their free speech, expressive association, and equal protection rights. The lawsuit further claims that the Department of Homeland Security encourages law enforcement officers throughout the nation to target and report citizens to federal officials as suspicious rightwing extremists and potential terrorists because of their political beliefs.

but the Obama Administration decided to make the report public before those concerns were fully addressed

The obama administration did not release it. Someone leaked it. Obama intended this report to be kept under wraps.

I think it was Greta Van Susteren who made this good point..

How the Hell can we have confidence in the DHS when they accidentally release a report before it's been vetted?

Obama claims to have released the interrogation technique information utilized during Bush's years as part of “transparency”. Well, in the interests of transparency of his own administration Americans should demand to know who were the individuals who wrote the now famous right wing DHS report. Or does Obama only believe in transparency for others and not for his own admin?

DHS Spokeswoman Amy Kudwa (remember that name) gave money to John Kerry's presidential campaign, and has a long time capitol hill association (Democrat staff) with Senator Tom Daschle.

This is so politically motivated it isnt even funny. I researched this today.

I heard several MSM folks pushing the notion that this was a report done by the Bush administration, but just now coming out. I was skeptical of that comment. Anyone know for sure?
