The Civil Rights Division of the Department of Homeland Security raised concerns about the language of a controversial report on alleged "right-wing extremist" groups before the report's release, but the Obama Administration decided to make the report public before those concerns were fully addressed, according to a Department spokesperson. Amy Kudwa declined to say which parts of the report were the source of concern inside the Department. But Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano said that she would rewrite a footnote in the report that defined "right-wing extremists" as motivated by hate, rejection of federal government authority, and opposition to single issues "like abortion and immigration."

Planning on more circumspect ways to detain conservative malcontents.
IMO, this is not a fiasco. It was a deliberate, planned action. Reason? To gauge the level of public outrage. This is nothing more than testing the waters. Too much outrage means they make their plans a little less obvious, and perhaps proceed a little more slowly. Too little outrage, or better yet, hardly anybody pays any attention, and they step up the timetable for going after political opposition.
Republicans are morons. This document is a declaration of war. To treat it as anything less (like requesting an apology as our fearless Republican leaders have done) is incredibly stupid.
>So...a president is blatantly, publically targeting his political enemies with our own “public servants.”
Not QUITE a bill of attainder, but pretty DAMN close.
I like that “Wanted” video, it makes a good point.
Yes, it does.

Otherwise known as the 2nd Amendment.
Eric Burton sang "It's my life and I'll do what I want" looking as if he just stepped off a Carribean Cruise Ship, but he still had the fire.
It is like going to a high school reunion and wondering why everyone else looked so old...
But I digress....I cannot help but think how the tables have turned since then. Conservatives are the "fringe". Conservatives are the protesters who are mocked and scorned by the "establishment."
When I first read this thread I thought of "For What It's Worth" (Buffalo Springfield). It could be our theme song. They are gunning for us. I agree with the poster who said (either here or on another thread) it was no accident this report was "leaked" right before the Tea Parties.
There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Anyone who has a mind to take a trip down memory lane should listen to many of those songs. I was rather shocked at how many could be songs of the conservative movement.
No special point to this, except I am just pondering the ironies of life. (I only had 1 Margarita tonight, I swear!)
What a great week. I learned I am a bigger threat to the United States then Islamofascists because I oppose abortion, oppose illegal immigration, support the 2nd Amendment, served in the military and don’t drink Obama-Aid. I also learned that I am a redneck racist because I attended a TEA Party from Janeane Garafalo. My how I have stumbled this week. I suck.

Federal Lawsuit Filed Against Janet Napolitano Over Homeland Securitys Rightwing Extremism Policy
Thursday, April 16, 2009
ANN ARBOR, MI The Thomas More Law Center, a national public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, announced today that it has filed a federal lawsuit against Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. The lawsuit claims that her Departments Rightwing Extremism Policy, as reflected in the recently publicized Intelligence Assessment, Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment, violates the civil liberties of combat veterans as well as American citizens by targeting them for disfavored treatment on account of the political beliefs. http://wnd.com/images/dhs-rightwing-extremism.pdf and http://www.thomasmore.org/downloads/sb_thomasmore/ComplaintAgainstDepartmentofHomelandSecurity.pdf
The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan on behalf of nationally syndicated conservative radio talk show host Michael Savage, Gregg Cunningham (President of the pro-life organization Center for Bio-Ethical Reform, Inc (CBR)), and Iraqi War Marine veteran Kevin Murray. The Law Center claims that Napolitanos Department (DHS) has violated the First and Fifth Amendment Constitutional rights of these three plaintiffs by attempting to chill their free speech, expressive association, and equal protection rights. The lawsuit further claims that the Department of Homeland Security encourages law enforcement officers throughout the nation to target and report citizens to federal officials as suspicious rightwing extremists and potential terrorists because of their political beliefs.
The obama administration did not release it. Someone leaked it. Obama intended this report to be kept under wraps.

I think that clinches it.
I think she might have a teabag
Naaaaaaa.....she’s just......um, she’s just....well, um.
I would bet that there AINT no gap and hasnt been a gap in 50 years.
Agreed. 100%
They have floated trial balloons mainly through czars.
His appointment of czars with dubious pasts take care of three things.
1. He is able to reward his far left wing crowd without the scrutiny of congress.
2. He is able to distance himself from their radical statements reports etc.
3. He uses them to test just how far and fast he can move us toward communism. He knows from the past that incrimentally is slow, cumbersome and potentially overturned by the mood of the electorate. The only way he is assured of a lasting communism is through a bloody revolution in which he would lose, or regulation and laws swiftly passed and cruelly enforced.
The reason we can’t get a handle on his philosphy is he is being handled by underground powerful communists that have been plannin for 30 years for this revolution. When more than one person is calling the shots you are reading not Obama but his handlers. Find them and you will know what to expect and how to deal with them.
This is so politically motivated it isnt even funny. I researched this today.
As an added bonus the left is is part funded by many large endowments whos public pronouncements read like they were written by Potok and the SPLC. Sue Away
