EPA to Propose Regulating Greenhouse Gas Emissions [Here it comes]
WaPo ^ | April 17, 2009 | Juliet Eilperin

The Environmental Protection Agency today plans to propose regulating greenhouse gas emissions on the grounds that these pollutants pose a danger to the public's health and welfare, according to several sources who asked not to be identified.

The move, coming almost exactly two years after the Supreme Court ordered the agency to examine whether emissions linked to climate change should be curbed under the Clean Air Act, would mark a major shift in the federal government's approach to global warming.

Former President George W. Bush and his deputies opposed putting mandatory limits on carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases for years on the grounds that it would harm the economy; Congress is considering legislation that would do so but it remains unclear whether it can pass the proposal and enact it into law in the near future.

Late last month EPA sent the White House a formal finding that greenhouse gases endanger public health and welfare; the Office of Management and Budget signed off on the determination Monday.

When reached this morning, EPA spokesman Allyn Brooks-LaSure declined to comment on the matter.

President Obama pledged to limit greenhouse gases as a candidate, but has urged Congress to send him a bill that would cap them and allow emitters to trade pollution allowances nationwide. EPA administrator Lisa P. Jackson, in a speech at the Aspen Environment Forum last month, emphasized that the administration still hopes the country will develop a legislative answer to the question of how best to limit greenhouse gases.

So will they regulate how much water vapor is emitted, since it’s by far the most abundant greenhouse gas?

Does this mean that it will be legal to inhale but will be made illegal to exhale?

No, it just means it won't be free anymore.

So what do you think they will do first?

Tell me where to set my thermostat?

Tell what days I can eat meat?

Require a permit to travel?

According to Vicki McKenna on WISN 1130 Milwaukee 10:00- 12:00 CT ( she is very good btw), this is no laughing matter—basically it leads way for governmental control of energy—and carbon dioxide—carbon—we are carbon life forms?!

Anyway she was going apoplectic today about this & how Brownard (EPA) wanted this and it makes all other issues pale in comparison of control of our human freedoms.

I don’t know if she has podcasts, but if so, would be worth listening to! They have website @

“...fourth branch of government, ... The unelected bureaucracy that is accountable to no one.”

This includes all the social workers and family courts that continue to break apart thousand of families, monthly.

They gotta be shut down.

how damn dumb do I hafta be to believe that allowing companies to 'swap' their credits wont realistically reduce a bit of the supposed gas problem, and that it simply develops a 'fee' to be paid ???

I guess thats the transparency that we were promised huh ???

Can you imagine what the next president is going to have to do to undo all this drek from Zer0’s time in the White House? If it's a Pub, then he/she will have the toughest job in the universe. I believe that's part of Dumbo's plan. He probably knows he's a one-termer so he's going to muck it up as much s he possibly can so the next guy can't undo any of his policies. It's nearly 3 months into this nightmare and Zer0’s already screwing things up at warp speed. Just like the”stimulus” bill, he'll want everything done and on his desk for signature before any honest debate is given. And he'll want it before anything is READ. We are getting squeezed enough already. With the Triumvirate of Evil in D.C., we don't stand a chance.

I thought CO2 encouraged plant growth that cools the planet?

“Growth-enhancing effects of CO2 create an impetus for cooling. Carbon dioxide is a powerful aerial fertilizer, directly enhancing the growth of almost all terrestrial plants and many aquatic plants as its atmospheric concentration rises. And just as increased algal productivity at sea increases the emission of sulfur gases to the atmosphere, ultimately leading to more and brighter clouds over the world's oceans, so too do CO2-induced increases in terrestrial plant productivity lead to enhanced emissions of various sulfur gases over land, where they likewise ultimately cool the planet. In addition, many non-sulfur-based biogenic materials of the terrestrial environment play major roles as water- and ice-nucleating aerosols; and the airborne presence of these materials should also be enhanced by rising levels of atmospheric CO2. Hence, it is possible that incorporation of this multifaceted CO2-induced cooling effect into the suite of equations that comprise the current generation of global climate models might actually tip the climatic scales in favor of global cooling in the face of continued growth of anthropogenic CO2 emissions.”

I believe algore has the market cornered, for himself & his drones...

We sell carbon credits, we claim administrative and overhead costs to manage a central location and small staff of office staff and paid board of directors to donate the rest to “conservative” conservation projects and candidate’s......save the right wing ducks per se !

RICO be damned the liberal save the gay illegal whales for islam and racists seems to be be working !

I have maintained for at least the last 15 years that the government will eventually get to the point that they will start taxing us on the amount of air that we breath. it won’t be long folks.

“We need to file a class action lawsuit forcing the EPA to PROVE its claims before they implement any measure that would no doubt hurt the public and our rights under the US Constitution. If the ACLU can play that game so can we!”

I’m torn between wanting to stop this outrageous nonsense & just letting this administration have its way. Sometimes the burned hand teaches best. People will come unglued when they’re paying $10/gallon for gas & can’t heat their homes. The Republicans can reverse these policies when the backlash inevitably happens.

EPA is NOT doing this to save the planet from global warming, it’s all about control.

Exactly,...
