EPA to Propose Regulating Greenhouse Gas Emissions [Here it comes]
WaPo ^ | April 17, 2009 | Juliet Eilperin

The Environmental Protection Agency today plans to propose regulating greenhouse gas emissions on the grounds that these pollutants pose a danger to the public's health and welfare, according to several sources who asked not to be identified.

The move, coming almost exactly two years after the Supreme Court ordered the agency to examine whether emissions linked to climate change should be curbed under the Clean Air Act, would mark a major shift in the federal government's approach to global warming.

Former President George W. Bush and his deputies opposed putting mandatory limits on carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases for years on the grounds that it would harm the economy; Congress is considering legislation that would do so but it remains unclear whether it can pass the proposal and enact it into law in the near future.

Late last month EPA sent the White House a formal finding that greenhouse gases endanger public health and welfare; the Office of Management and Budget signed off on the determination Monday.

When reached this morning, EPA spokesman Allyn Brooks-LaSure declined to comment on the matter.

President Obama pledged to limit greenhouse gases as a candidate, but has urged Congress to send him a bill that would cap them and allow emitters to trade pollution allowances nationwide. EPA administrator Lisa P. Jackson, in a speech at the Aspen Environment Forum last month, emphasized that the administration still hopes the country will develop a legislative answer to the question of how best to limit greenhouse gases.

Was it Lisa JAckson, EPA Comm, who said we’d have to ‘shrink the economy’ to stave off global warming?

Maybe, this ‘recession’ is the plan after all! Why should the ‘progressives’ complain when this is what they want?

Does this mean that it will be legal to inhale but will be made illegal to exhale?

Earth has been cooling at a fast rate for the last ten years. It has not been warming.

Arctic and Antarctic ice is either staying the same or growing.

EPA is NOT doing this to save the planet from global warming, it’s all about control.

This is the fourth branch of government that Mark Levin describes. The unelected bureaucracy that is accountable to no one.

We need to file a class action lawsuit forcing the EPA to PROVE its claims before they implement any measure that would no doubt hurt the public and our rights under the US Constitution. If the ACLU can play that game so can we!

The standard Liberal response, SHUT-UP.

Shut-up because talking creates CO2, the boogeyman gas. I can see limiting Nitrous Oxides and Sulfur Dioxides, but a gas that is and always has been present in nature is just plain silly.

It means that your electric and natural gas bills will go up at least 40%. You will look back fondly on the days of gasoline at merely $2.50 per gallon. The cost of everything which requires energy to produce (which is everything) will go up. Manufacturing plants in the U.S. will shut down, and those products will be produced in other countries (still on the same "globe" however). Actual entrepreneurial and productive jobs will be lost. There will be hoards of new bureaucracies (those famous new "green jobs") to harrass and stifle growth. The central government will become ever more powerful and omnipresent.

You will still be allowed to breathe, which will allow you to continue to live. You are needed in order to send to D.C. what little money you will have left.

All in the name of a massive hoax.

"President Obama pledged to limit greenhouse gases as a candidate, but has urged Congress to send him a bill that would cap them and allow emitters to trade pollution allowances nationwide." This is just too funny. I didn't know Greenhouse Gases was a candidate, which party did it run on? Now Obama wants to cap them, ohhhhh HOW's that gonna work.

Yet, he will allow EMITTERS to trade for allowances! ok, lets see I'll see you one F.rt for one (...........)?

"..At this moment, the EPA is hopelessly politicized. In the wake of Carol Browner, it is probably better to shut it down and start over. What we need is a new organization much closer to the FDA. We need an organization that will be ruthless about acquiring verifiable results, that will fund identical research projects to more than one group, and that will make everybody in this field get honest fast." ~ Michael Crichton, September 15, 2003 Environmentalism as Religion

Not only that - the baked bean industry will be hit particularly hard because I'm sure we will be forced to purchase flatulence moniters to install in our homes. Any flatulence created above a certain limit will be taxed.

Course those of us with comfortable incomes could buy credits and continue to buy all the beans we want.

No. What endangers public health and welfare is a bunch of nameless, faceless bureaucrats that promulgate stupidity.
