If she sings it straight as written, it will be beautiful. I don't care for the version I saw on YouTube. Everyone feels they have to put their own 'stamp' on it, and I think it ruins it most of the time.

I think she’ll do a good job, she’s got a great voice.

That said, I’m just wondering who will accompany her to the Derby, her husband or her boy on the side....

I sympathize with you. However, I listen to a lot of solo artists in the classical field and even when singing music from composers like Bach, Handel, Mozart and Beethoven soloists “add their stamp” to them. I’ll agree, though, that when singing the National Anthem some of them twist it almost beyond recognition.

Most songs lend themselves to people trying to put their own signature on it.
But I think our National Anthem should be sung as written. Singers can add some emotion, but all the extras just detract from it.
just my opinion

When the family gets together to watch sporting events where the SSB is rendered, we bet on the time it will take. A slow rendition with a lot of injected runs will usually go 2:10. Sometimes you get lucky and get a 1:40 version, though not very often.
