If they do this, the dim/rats will finally own print news media instead of rats and newspapers only acting like they do.

Less than 20 years ago, I paid for 3 newspapers to be delivered to my house every day. Now, thanks to their outrageous bias, I don't even read those papers online.

I saw this coming last summer!!!

With the bailout comes the strings; only “approved” information will be disseminated. Not that the msm needs much housebreaking here.

All socialism is about rationing, and the rationing will take place through government fiscal policy.

Information will be rationed through the news bailout.
Gasoline will be rationed through limited domestic production
Transportation will be rationed through government mandates to it’s controlled auto industry (GM=Government Motors)
Electricity will be rationed through cap & trade on coal
Health Care will be rationed through nationalization.
Credit will be rationed through TARP funds.
Income will be rationed through government regulations & caps (Just ask your neighbor who works for AIG how this works).
Housing will be rationed through limits on tax deductions for the “rich” while the “poor” get mortgage subsidies.
Education will be rationed through limitations on tax deductions for student loans, student loans being issued only by the government, and preferences given to “favored” groups.
The only thing left is food; I’m still not sure how they are going to do that yet, but I’m sure they are working on it.

We can bail out journalism, using tax dollars and granting licenses in ways that encourage robust and independent reporting and commentary...

A government license and paycheck for INDEPENDENT reporting and commentary??? These people are WAY over the top.

Sorry to disagree with others on this board, but I think that it’s only fair that the Obama Administration pay the MSM for services rendered.

Screw this. These are not “bail-outs”. (That’s a scrubbed PC term.) These are TAKE-OVERs.

or we can watch, wringing our hands, as more and more top journalists are laid off,"

I'll bet my list of top journalists is a lot shorter than hers.

So Obama Inc is perfectly willing to bankrupt the American auto industry, slander all veterans, & conservatives, plus appease communist and jihadist tyrants worldwide -- but continue billions in tax-funded bailouts for tax-cheating, 'liberal' contributor bankers, and leftist agenda promoting newspapers. Well, it's all in accordance with the 'change'.

UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!! A FREE PRESS must be free of outside interference. ANY government action to choose winners or losers is INTERFERING in the marketplace of ideas. Furthermore, it is propping up a buggywhip industry in the face of competition from better information delivery models - a complete waste of taxpayer money.

Let the failing papers bear the full burden of their "Better RED than READ" business model.

Brooks said this would help rescue the industry from a "death spiral" and left the government unaccountable to the journalists who must keep it honest. "[I] can't imagine anything more dangerous than a society in which the news industry has more or less collapsed," she wrote.

So she's thinking that "journalists" whose papers owe their existence to government funding are going to objectively report on government officials?

Put the bong down, Rosa.

What help would a bailout do anyway? If no one buys the paper, and then they would have to generate some advertizing revenue, but who would buy a spot in the paper if no one reads it.

“Some scribes are already closely bound to Washington. As jobs are axed and papers felled across the country, many journalists have sought work elsewhere. A number have gone to work for the Obama administration, including Chicago Tribune correspondent Jill Zuckman; Time magazine’s Washington bureau chief, Jay Carney; former L.A. Times reporter Peter Gosselin; and Warren Bass, once the Washington Post’s deputy editor.”

We now know why the media was so hot for Obama. They knew their companies were about to hit the iceberg, and only an Obama administration would provide them with a lifeboat.

Unacceptable. Unconstitutional. Mustn’t happen.

Whose Constitution? Theirs (the living one) or ours(the real one)?
