Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-La.) suggested Thursday that former Vice President Dick Cheney should tone down his criticism of President Barack Obama.
Cheney has repeatedly criticized the presidents national security policy, saying recently on CNNs State of the Union that Obamas decisions raise the risk to the American people of another attack.
Asked to respond to Cheneys remark during an interview ABCs Good Morning America, Jindal said: I don't think we should question President Obama's patriotism or his intentions.
I think Democrat or Republican, we should all agree that our current president, our former president would obviously want to do everything they could to keep us safe, he said. Let's give the new administration a chance. Let's not question their intentions. Let's have a real debate on their policies.
The Republican governor praised Obama for showing more flexibility when it comes to Iraq than maybe some of the campaign rhetoric suggested.
I am, quite honestly, pleasantly surprised, he said. That's the kind of pragmatism, listening to the commanders on the ground, I think is very important.
Jindal did offer some criticism of the president, pointing out that it is fine to have an honest disagreement on the policies that both administrations would choose to try to keep us safe.
At some point, we need to stop going overseas and apologizing, criticizing our predecessors, he said.
Well, then I will mark him off my list. Thank you for that information.
Right on.
Jindal should STFU.
Absolutely correct. They won with this Vitriol and dirty tricks. We have to fight fire with fire.
Bobby Jindal, we hardly new ye. Just lost all respect I had for him.
STFU Bobby!
Bobby needs to read the 1st Amendment.
You're right. Paid for by Arlene Specter for president 2012.
His remarks here are troubling though.
“Furthermore, she supported a moderate choice for Alaska’s high court.”
She had no choice, in that matter. She was given a list by a Judicial Committee. The Governor of Alaska is not allowed to nominate just anyone. They have to pick from the list that the committee gives them. And, since the committee, is dominated by the liberals, they gave her moderate-to-liberal choices.
She had a choice between a moderate and a wacko enviro-nazi. She chose the lesser of two evils.
Specter/Collins 2012. Rallying the moderate base for victory!
You heard it here first.
Let’s give the new administration a chance. Let’s not question their intentions. Let’s have a real debate on their policies.
Did Clinton?? Did Carter?? NO!! They started criticizing Bush on Day One and never stopped for 8 years!!
The only time we should bend over and grab our ankles is if we have a dagger stashed in our boot....:))
There’s some young Irish dude in the midwest that I think they’re grooming for 2012.
Wish I could remember his name but he’s ultra-conservative, damn good looking and smart as a whip.
[looking for name help, here]....:))
Jindal..steeerike 2.
Was Cheney questioning Obama’s patriotism/intentions or was he criticizing Obama’s actions??????? And it’s ok for Bobby to criticize Obama’s dissin’ of America while Obama was in Europe? Hmmmmmmm. Stick to governing Louisiana, Bobby.
Memo to Bobby:
The time for kissing the 0’s butt is long past. STOP!!
Lord, please let Bobby’s lack of judgment be a simple, youthful indiscretion.
I disagree with Jindal on this.
Talk it UP.
Wake people UP.
You cannot make friends with the devil.
Funny...I always thought the short and sweet “Are you with us or against us?” was good enough.
lol. FREEPERS pick for President in 2012....Another one bites the dust. That is why I believe we do not even have a clue as to who will be our Presidential candidate. It will most likely be an unknown.
Bobby is quickly beginning to LOSE points with me. His governing ability aside, PRINCIPLES count. Traditions like “not speaking about the administration that follows you” ONLY apply to Republicans these days. They Didn’t apply to Clinton, they didn’t apply to Carter. Well, if Cheney desires to defend himself — Have at it, Mr. VP! You’ve EARNED it, the HARD way!
