This certainly wasn't the biggest event today - maybe about 100 people
It didn't have any celebrities and it didn't have any speakers.
It was just a bunch of Americans, young and old, standing on the sidewalk during rush hours, protesting the ruination of their country. Others drove by waving flags and honking horns. - A scene probably played out in countless communities throughout the United States today.
But this is how the revolution will be won. City by city. Town by town. Neighborhood by neighborhood.
The sad thing was, when I went home my neighbors saw me walking down the street, sign in hand, and said they wished they had come to the tea party. But they weren't certain it would be safe.
Too bad for them. It was great fun while it lasted. Folks stopped at my corner and shouted encouragement. I shouted myself hoarse even with my bullhorn. Kids everywhere, students even. Mall security, Police very friendly and professional.
One counter protester on my corner. He ran away when the people in the cars started booing him.
Thanks for posting. I was wondering how my friends up the peninsula were doing.

Yes! You are so right!
This is how our Founding Fathers won our freedom.
They had no t.v.
No radio.
No tape players.
No copy machines.
No fax machines.
Just word of mouth and printing presses and handing out pamphlets one by one.
We The People can do this together!
P.S. I was just in San Mateo last week when I drove my son to SFO to leave for his new post at Ft. Meade in Maryland.
He’s an intelligence analyst for the Air Force.
We had breakfast (delicious) at a great diner off the main drag (El Camino Real) that had been around since the 50s.
The grill was out in the front!
You have a beautiful town!
I am proud of san mateo this is a pretty liberal town :)
good job
I drove past this today, when I took a late lunch at about 3:00 in the afternoon. I was surprised at the large number of people in attendance (looked to be at least 200 to my untrained eye) - more than I would expect for such a liberal mecca.
Very enthusiastic people, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that a large number of cars around me were also honking their horns and giving the thumbs up (this Tea Party happened on El Camino Real, a very busy 6 lane street, in front of a major shopping mall). Again, I would have never thought this for such a liberal area (San Mateo is about 20 miles south of San Francisco). Had I been able to attend the event “for real”, I too would have been concerned that the loony lefties of the region might show up and get violent, as those on the left often tend to do.
I had to make the U-Turn at the light right in front of the Tea Party, so I got a good look at everyone, and honked my horn the entire time. Good job everyone!!!
Ironically, I had just gotten done mailing my income taxes at the San Mateo Main Post Office!! I stopped at the nearby Burger King for lunch, then I had to go back to work, unfortunately. Otherwise, I would have stopped and joined in the fun.
I live in a small town just outside of Bakersfield. I drove into Bakersfield to join the protest there only to meet up with one of my locals! That small town drew its own protest of 9 people. It makes me wonder how many people came out in these tiny places.
Small town America came alive yesterday.
Cumberland,MD, pop. 22,000 had over 500 protesters in a consistent downpour of rain. The passersby in cars were overwhelmingly supportive and enthusiastic...honking and waving.
Wish I could have been there to support y'all, but I had to attend my local Party in Houston. Keep up the good work!
