Obamas pay more than $900,000 in taxes By Sam Youngman Posted: 04/15/09 05:18 PM [ET] The new first family paid more than $900,000 in federal and state taxes this year after President Obama's book sales last year earned him more than $2.6 million.
In addition to paying more than $855,000 in federal taxes, the Obamas also paid more than $77,000 in state taxes in Illinois, according to the White House.
Vice President Biden and his wife, Jill, reported paying $46,952 in federal taxes on "an adjusted gross income" of close to $270,000.
The Bidens paid a little more than $11,000 in state taxes in Delaware.
While the Obamas donated more than $172,000 to charity, including $25,000 gifts to the United Negro College Fund and Catholic Relief Services, the Bidens donated a little more than $1,800.

Time for the Obowma’s and Biden’s to pay their fair share. After all it’s their patriotic duty to step up to the plate.
During that time, the Clintons paid $33.8 million in federal taxes and claimed deductions for $10.2 million in charitable contributions. The contributions went to a family foundation run by the Clintons that has given away only about half of the money they put into it, and most of that was last year, after Mrs. Clinton declared her candidacy.
Guarantee that’s a small fraction of his income and what was owed on taxes.

And how can he judge anybody given his pathetic lack of charity--especially compared to the last VP and his wife who gave away a small fortune every year?
As with liberals, it is much more beneficial to be generous with other people's money.
Most Catholic families give more than that to the church alone, especially if they have a child in parochial school.
With Joe Biden’s effective Fed tax rate of 17%, he should not feel too patriotic. That does not come anything close to his fair share of the tax burden. Why didn’t the Biden’s voluntarily pay more tax since his income classifies them as wealthy?
Somehow the MSM forgets his 2007 and 2006 returns...and their pittance to charity...
While Obama’s giving looked very large, compared to his 2.6 million in earnings, it was still less than 10%. Still, you can see that he got a lot more generous after he started making millions. Prior to that when his earnings were still a phenomenal $200,000+, he gave almost nothing.
