I haven't even attended my local TP yet, but Obama has already pre-empted them with a speech that effectively moves the discussion away from the TP issues to his own, tax breaks (some) to the majority of taxpayers (50% don't pay any taxes at all), taking away tax breaks for the rich (resonates with most voters) and streamlining the tax code (won't happen but sounds good).
Sorry TP organizers, but you only have yourself to blame for framing these rallies based on taxes in general instead of focusing them on 1. the criminal activity that spawned the economic crisis, 2. out of control government borrowing, 3. the deficit and 4. who/how it is going to be paid.
Tea Party participants know what they are about, but those who don't won't have a clue and now Obama's comments will be thrown in the face of every point you try to make. If the purpose of the TP's was team building then that may still get accomplished, but if it was bringing your message to the masses then that might now get a little harder.
I hope I'm wrong, but the Obama Admin was ready for this and might have effectively muted the message and effectiveness of this first volley from the TP'ers.
A pilot has to know the condition of his ship.
The Constitutionally ineligible dufus can say whatever he wants, the message is getting around that he does completely the opposite of what he says.
ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER than words.
Sorry Bob, I am at work and I did not see/hear BHO’s little Speech.
My Local Congress person will be aware of MORE THAN ONE ISSUE coming out of Tea Party.
We are NOT defined by Obama or the MSM.
Riiight. Get ready to RUMMMBLE!!
IMO the TP message was too broad and using the Boston TP as a starting point was a miss step. Not focusing your message allows your opponents and the media to frame it how they wish and the will choose those that can be attacked the easiest.
Most people pay little or no taxes at all, just look at the most recent Rasmussen poll and how many think theirs are too little or just right. How do you start with a message that won’t be acceptd by a majority of the people? You end up looking like you’re defending the wealthiest.
The message should have been focused on the financial criminality, how no one is being investigated or prosecuted and who is going to pay for it (future generations). These messages would resonate with 90% of the people.
I had the TV on, and the volume muted. I just watched his face, because I knew he was lying. The facial expressions do not lie.
Obama coming out against the Tea Party rallies is probably the best endorsement we could get. Now we have more attention than ever.
Keep up the good work. Obama is down to +2 approval index according to Rasmussen, and it’s not even halfway through his first year.
To be sure....the MSM / DBM will do what they do.
But come on....don't give up so early.
Regardless of what BHO says, it is apparent that government spending is out of control. High taxes are at least a subset of that problem.
It should have ALL been about the spending, borrowing and deficit.
Tax policy is a losing argument for conservatives.
I think it's a brilliant idea: focus on "criminality," before the Dems focus on "criminality" and distract us from the issue of taxes.

Bob, why don’t you call the organizer and file an official complaint? Sheesh. Here’s a freaking quarter already.
Lead, follow or get the hell out of the way!
Well....that's totally wrong.
Amen!
It'll be good fun no matter what goes down. I don't think anybody is going to start swinging fists or anything like that unless it's the occasional provacateur. I do think it's a healthy thing to let the little liberal goose-steppers who are telling themselves that 147% of the world worships the ground Obama walks on that we're out there.
“You and the MSM just dont get it! Tyhe Tea Parties are not just about taxes!”
Thazt’s not how it was portrayed leading up to today, nor how it will be depicted after...except for Fox.
I hope there will be some signs reminding people of the 6 billion of our tax dollars going to ACORN, the left wing radicals.
