MOMBASSA, Kenya Undeterred by U.S. and French hostage rescues that killed five bandits, Somali pirates brazenly hijacked four more ships in the Gulf of Aden, the waterway at the center of the world's fight against piracy.
Pirates have vowed to retaliate for deaths of their colleagues_ and the top U.S. military officer said Tuesday he takes those comments seriously. But Adm. Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told ABC's "Good Morning America" that "we're very well prepared to deal with anything like that."
Still, despite Mullen's confident statement and President Barack Obama's warning Monday, pirates captured two more nautical trophies Tuesday to match the two ships they seized a day or two earlier.
NATO spokeswoman Shona Lowe said the MV Sea Horse, a Lebanese-owned cargo ship, was attacked and captured Tuesday by pirates in three or four speedboats. She had no further information.
That hijacking came only hours after the Greek-managed MV Irene E.M. was seized in a rare overnight attack by pirates.

Would that make them Somie-homies?
They aren't worried. They know all they have to do is knock a "black hawk down", and Americans will vannish for another 20 years.
It must be a pain in the arse to write a thesis with one of these:http://www.piratemonkeycult.org/manifesto/pirate_keyboard.jpg
Does anyone know, is the SECNAV order for U.S. Warships to fly “Don’t Tread on Me” from the Jack still in effect?
Perhaps we should modify the order and fly it underway...
Here. I'll post the picture for you:
They seldom if ever did. Probably because there just isn't a lot of US flagged ships to choose from in the first place. Don't forget, owned and flagged are two different things. The reason ships are flagged in different countries are many, insurance costs, labor laws, etc.
“Islamic natives in mud huts probably dont get too much news from the outside world:”
You have got a lot to learn about these guys. They’re very well connected, and , if successful, are living like hollywood stars! I’ll see if I can find the link I had a few days ago.
One reason is because we don't have a 'POTUS', we have a 'TOTUS' ...
Oh, yeah...PIRATES!"
Not far from the center of town was a neighborhood called New Boosaaso, where just beyond a cluster of refugee huts made from bits of cloth and cardboard rose a colony of palatial new homes with huge walls surrounding them and satellite dishes on their roofs. Spectral figures tramped through the dust on the way to their hovels, and right next to them were some of the nicest houses I had seen anywhere in Somalia, where so many buildings have been reduced to piles of machine-gun-chewed bricks. “

"Sorry, sir, but the ammo inventory is short about 100 five-inch rounds. Noise? No, sir, I didn't hear any noise..."
For one thing, we'll be alive, and they'll be dead. That's pleanty for me.
The thing that amazes me is that we don't just arm some decoys to the teeth and go at it. Flame throwers embedded arount the hull, electric shock, soft-core bullets, whatever it takes. When you are a superpower, the purpose of battle is that you walk away. When you are a tame puppy with French and Arab masters, you fear offending somebody.
>Problem is, one Mk48 probably costs more than any pirate mothership...
Alright, the less-fun but more economic solution: RAMMING-SPEED!
We may have to retrofit/reinforce the bow of the ship to properly TEAR through the pirate’s vessel.
To say they were undeterred but didn't hijack ships from the two nations that squashed them is BS.
The fact that they are mouthing off about "retaliating" against the US and the French, just affirms that they are muslims, a typical blowhard muslim trait.
The oldest active ship in the Navy flies that flag.
- We cannot allow ourselves to stoop to their level.
We haven't. They initiated force. We're entitled to respond with our full force to end they threat the pose to peaceful commerce.
- If simply exterminate them, we are no better than they are.
Yes we are; we're alive (joke).
In any case, we didn't start it. As per above, however, we are entitled to END it, if we can. If they don't want to die, they can find something else to do, like rob aid shipments in the Somali interior.
- What are we fighting if we become as just a savage and uncivilized as our enemies.
Freedom of the seas and the right for our commerce to be left alone. Those two items alone justify an awful lot of force and savagery.
Besides, the Romans pretty darned savage with pirates, but nobody would call THEM uncivilized.
It’s still more profitable than the pain they’ve had to suffer. We need to send them some more pain.
“...permit private yachts...”
Do you mean non-commercial? Commercial vessels are private, too.
Why would anyone need permission? Who would grant it?
“Problem is, one Mk48 probably costs more than any pirate mothership...”
But does it cost more than what you’re losing to the pirates?
That used to be the case...
In 2002 the SecNav ordered that ALL U.S. Ships fly the DTOM Jack for the duration of the WoT.
My question is: has the new guys rescinded that order?
