WASHINGTON – A federal appeals court has ruled that a Marine cannot sue Pennsylvania Rep. John Murtha for defamation.

Staff Sgt. Frank Wuterich of Meriden, Conn., claimed Murtha damaged his reputation by saying he and his comrades killed women and children "in cold blood" in Haditha, Iraq, in November 2005.

Murtha argued he has immunity from the lawsuit because he was acting in his official role as a lawmaker...

This amounts to a blanket exemption for lawmakers. I believe the standard used to be that only statements made “from the well of the House” were exempt. Why shouldn’t the courts return to that definition & let a trial court sort out the rest?

CONGRESSIONAL CENSURE of Murtha.

Or puruse charges of TREASON for deliberately attacking our troops in wartime to embolden the enemy.

Slander, like libel, perury, and treason, is NOT protected speech.

Murtha may be immune from prosecution but he is still a fat fart, a weasel, and a crook. He will burn in hell for all of eternity unless Al Gore succeeds in shutting down the fires of hell to stop cosmic warming, in which case Murtha will get off with an eternity of worms crawling in and out of his orifices.

Dontcha know, lawmakers can say whatever they want, with little chance of being held accountable for those words. John Murtha can defame a good Marine, who was acquitted of all charges. Immunity my butt!

Hey, John Murtha, apologize, then STFU!

Well, I guess the Marine will simply have to go to Plan B.

What is Plan B?

Give him a rifle, a lifeboat and tow him behind a Marine ship off the coast of Somolia?

The ‘rifle’ part sounds good, for starters.

Here, here ~ my thoughts exactly ~ which is why I will suggest that someone somewhere has a picture of the judge in question and Murtha together in a small room putting their bodies together to exchange vital juices.

Plus Murtha paid him something.

These b*5+*rds can't sue all of us!

Oh, wait, I'm not a lawmaker doing my “official duties”!!! Hope I don't get sued by Murtha and the judge!

If you're a lawmaker on "official duty" you're immune...but if you are delinquint on your taxes, you're DOUBLE IMMUNE...

If it didn’t happen in 2005 when the Republicans still (I think?) controlled he House, you think it’d ever be possible under Frau Pelosi?

Give MURTHA a rifle, a lifeboat and tow him behind a Marine ship off the coast of Somolia.

Then see what the Marines would do.

“This is an embarrassment for the majority of voters in this scumbag’s district. “

My wife is from Carroltown, in the heart of Murtha’s district. At church I was looking at the people. They are decent, hard-working folks.

I can’t understand why they support Murtha.

I can only conclude that they just aren’t aware of what a scum he is. Sure the local media doesn’t inform them.

Many are Catholic. They still believe in the mantra: The Democrats are for the poor people, the Republicans are for the rich people.

But, to be sure, many of them believe that Murtha brings home the bacon for the district.

It’s very perplexing.

I pray all the time to St. Joseph, the patron saint of Justice...

A congressman should be able to say whatever he wants on the floor without having civil or criminal penalties.

He wasn't on the floor when he made the accusations.

As long as one lawmaker does not operate counter to a cadre of stronger lawmakers, he can do as he pleases. Murtha has even admitted that he is corrupt. But since he’s protected by the Princess of Darkness he’s untouchable.

“Kick his ass”. Well, he would be acting in his role as a Marine, wouldn’t he? Murtha can’t sue him.
