Fox just started to read a statement from Obama - it expressed tepid joy at the Captain’s release, praise for the military, blah, blah, blah, and Fox just stopped reading it and went to their military analyst Cowan, as if Obama were immaterial. Cowan did say that the operation had to be authorized by the administration.
With due respect, that's not true. Destroyers (Bainbridge) don't normally carry SEAL units, neither do Frigates (Halyburton). If the reports are true, the SEALS had to be flown in. There are not that many SEAL units to be stationed on every Navy vessel.
and Pres. Obama is now on the side of the angels, as he can always say that he first tried to negotiate, as opposed to showing weakness.
It's what he does when the Somali pirates start taking more ships and shooting hostages, that will be be dissected.
