I spent the better part of an hour earlier today scanning the various sites and blogs to try and understand what specifically the Fox-Pajamas tea parties are about. Having absorbed about as much of the literature as I can, I have to say I'm still befuddled.
Option 1: It's a protest of the bank bailouts orchestrated by Bush and now Obama. But surely these tea-partiers understand what would happen if we didn't bail the banks out. Are they advocating letting major banks fail? Or are they advocating a Krugman-style government take-over? No idea.
Option 2: It's a protest against tax hikes. But there have barely been any!

Option 3: It's a protest against illegal immigration. Ok, so why the tea? Weren't all the original tea-partiers illegal immigrants?
Option 4: It's a protest against government debt. Yay! I will leave aside the somewhat awkward fact that Fox News and Pajamas Media barely covered the massive debt racked up by the Republicans during a period of economic growth.

What it looks like to me is some kind of amorphous, generalized rage on the part of those who were used to running the country and now don't feel part of the culture at all. But the only word for that is: tantrum.
These are not tea-parties. They are tea-tantrums. And the adolescent, unserious hysteria is a function not of a movement regrouping and refinding itself. It's a function of a movement's intellectual collapse and a party's fast-accelerating nervous breakdown.

Look at you! You made a funny! Aren't you so very clever? Who's our big boy?
Correction: not a punk; somebody’s bitch.
And if it's in the wrong direction, it doesn't matter how many steps you're willing to take.
Randy Andy blew a gasket a few years back and there seems to be no hope of recovery. His phony flirtation with conservatism ended and continually proves what a leftist nut case he is, and always has been.
And if it's in the wrong direction, it doesn't matter how many steps you're willing to take.
However, we have the benefit of walking in the footsteps of successful American patriots and geniuses. I'll bet on that route as a great direction to take.
Ya gotta start somewhere. I like this as a starting point very much.
I seriously doubt we're as open as you think. Be that as it may, you're asking me for an alternative to the tea parties wh no one can say what they will accomplish beside "being heard."
Hell, I "hear" panhandlers, and still say "no."
Sounds like Andrew ran out of KY jelly.
Taxed Enough Already = TEA
What’s hard to understand about that? I know - you didn’t read the name.
Here’s the name again: Taxed Enough Already = TEA
At last!
Someone with a clue!
1. Were surrounded. That simplifies our problem of getting to these people and killing them.
2. So they’ve got us surrounded, good! Now we can fire in any direction, those bastards won’t get away this time!
3. Our Country won’t go on forever, if we stay soft as we are now. There won’t be any AMERICA because some foreign soldier will invade us and take our women and breed a hardier race!
4. They are in front of us, behind us, and we are flanked on both sides by an enemy that outnumbers us 29:1. They can’t get away from us now!
Lt. Gen Lewis Burwell Puller, USMC
Good night Chesty, wherever you are.
I’m going to a party to see what exactly is being protested. I think tantrum is off the mark as a descriptive and prefer pop off valve.
My fear is that once the pressure is released by the tea party pop off valves, the satisfaction gained will be adequate to end the desire for sustained in the streets opposition. I fear a Been There, Done That mentality just 90 days into a four year term.
Good, keep saying NO. Are you going to say NO to your tax collector? Are you going to say NO to the stupid laws that the Congress keeps passing to take away your rights--simple rights like being able to live free and without restriction? Go ahead and say No to the tea parties. We will be out in force to say NO to the right people...the ones who are passing laws that are saying NO to our freedoms that our forefathers spilt blood and guts to bestow on us and to those that keep spending our money without asking our permission.
When you quit “feeling” and start “thinking” drop me a line.
Oh, you can bet I’ll be glued to FR that day.
Mandy Sullivan has her frilly panties in a twist.
“...Weren’t all the original tea-partiers illegal immigrants?”
Hello? are you there Sullivan? How can you be an illegal immigrant in your own country you idiot.
And that greatly concerns the Statists of both stripes in D.C. What they want is for us to shut up and pay the tax.
They will say that our numbers aren't great, but remember that only 14% of the colonial population was involved with the Revolution at any given time.
It's not a big deal to get the illegal immigrant rent a mob to show up. What is a big deal is to get people who actually pay taxes and foot the bill to show up. And we will network with each other. And we will encourage one another. And the numbers will grow. And it will frighten the statist.
"They say, sir, that we are weak..."
So tell me what you think you’re “starting.”
......The only way we are going to untie it......
This presumes it can be untied. It cannot. The election was won by marxists who are going hell over heels to bring their destructive change as rapidly as possible. There may be mediation in 2010 but I wouldn’t count on it and even so, the socialist genii can’t be put back in the lamp.
Tea parties will be effective only if there are contacts made that will form the revolution.
And I'm willing to bet if it leads to the same place they went the ones that drop away will be turning in the ones that don't.
