ROCHESTER, Pa. -- On the first Friday of Lent, an elderly female parishioner of St. Cecilia Catholic Church began unwrapping pies at the church. That's when the trouble started.
A state inspector, there for an annual checkup on the church's kitchen, spied the desserts. After it was determined that the pies were home-baked, the inspector decreed they couldn't be sold.

AHA!!!! The old Lenten Death Pies. Damn Papists trying to kill us all with their Protestant Popovers filled with the blood of Lutheran babies. Probably baked in the firey ovens of Hell by the Satanic Chef himself, Pope Lucifer.
You can’t fool me. I’uns been to college.
Government workers to the rescue!!
Oh Jeez, people are dropping like flies by eating poisoned pies!
Ban them all!
Ban everything!
Wake up and ask a bureaucrat what to eat, eat nothing till they tell you its ok.
I’ll stop now.
It's a 'Burgh

The Food Cop took the pies into custody.
Uh huh.
I WANT PIE!
I WANT PIE!
I WANT PIE!
If anyone ever thought we did not have too much government they need to read this...
First they came for the home bakers, and I did not speak up because I wasn’t a home baker.... repeat...
They take what is supposed to be something for public health, restaurant kitchen checks, and go to the Nth degree.
SO WHAT if a pie is home baked?
The kitchen it was baked in was probably cleaner than the restaurant kitchen the bureaucrat wants it to be from.
SHEEESH, is it time yet?
How are these people suppose to get their “piece of the pie” that Obama promised them?
Wait, the inspector said they “couldn’t be sold”... see he was a democrat making the government provided. So does violate the separation of church and state? /sarc
And then they came for me, and no one else was left to complain. And hell, all I ever did was to cook a pop tart.
The inspector was merely going to confiscate the pies and redistribute them to needy pie eaters.
and when they came for the home gardener, I didn’t speak up because I buy all my vegetables at the Market....
A bake sale at a Catholic church? Heaven’s to Elizabeth, what is the world coming to? Can I go postal yet?
That was awesome.
And how many commercial bakeries have had health code violations??????
This event brings to mind that old story about the tech support guy telling a customer that she was too stupid to own a computer. As hard as it is to believe, this inspector is too stupid to be in government.
...ps, meaning that commercial bakeries aren’t all that clean ...
Up the price of the meal a Dollar and give the pie away free.
The problem wasn’t that the pies were home-baked, it’s that the lady had an unfair amount of pie relative to the rest of the community. The official intervened merely to ensure a fair and just redistribution of baked goods.
/sarcasm, but also probably coming to pass in the near future under the current administration.
This was kinda ‘resolved’ in a way that can only occur in Sw. PA.
Local (Pittsburgh) TV covered this initially by sending camera crews to the Church to interview the nice little bubbas’ who bake. Next week, same camera crews, but this time every County commisioner/Dem pol showed up (they showed table of ‘suits’ at the Fish Fry eating pie). It actually was funny...the decision was made that an ‘amendment’ or some such nonsense would be added to the health code to accomodote ‘more than six times in a row—ie, Lent’ there would be have to be inspections, but the Lenten six week time frame was ‘safe.’
Grandmas ‘win.’ Health Department Inspector gets reassigned. County politicians get free face time.
A win all the way around.
