The Obama administration is making a strong but cool-headed military response to the gang of Somali pirates now holding a U.S. captain hostage at sea. So far in this critical first test, the right message is being sent.

For God's sake, How about a "Barf Alert" on this?

Now I've got to clean up my keyboard and go brush my teeth.

RULES, man! We've got RULES about this sort of thing!

;^)

You mean, big schtick.

Now more pirates are coming in, with hostages. Summoned by the first four pirates.

This is the look of intimidated pirates? Tell me another one.

Yes, Obama seems to be handling this appropriately, but the editorial writer purpose here seems to be solely to through bouquets of worship at Obama’s feet.

This isn’t a bunch of misguided Somali yoots with a few Kalashnikov’s and a Zodiac. This ship was siezed over 300 miles offshore. That’s deep ocean. This is a highly-organized business and therefore vulnerable to disruption by the US military. All that Obama needs to do is grow a pair & give the order.

Only for a weak nation.

What an amazing spin to this story now that BHO is at the White House. Incredible!

"Unlike other victims, unarmed crews that were easily overtaken, the highly trained 21-man U.S. crew unexpectedly fought back."

Highly trained? Fought back? Give me a break. Don't get me wrong, I admire anyone that fights back with what is available but if I were in charge my crew would be highly trained, prepared, and equipped with fire arms not a fire hose.

Where's the Barf Alert?

If this is a success, they'll think hard about messing with the U.S. before they do it again.

Big "If".

"we are working to do what we can,"
And yet, their one hostage is still...a hostage.

This article amounts to nothing more than a literary oral gratification of 0bama.

Most obvious in this is Obama's leadership, today's version of speaking softly and carrying a big stick,

If 0bama has such a big stick, the UDT or SEALS would have had this hostage freed and all pirates dead by now. I have no doubt that 0bama has strict orders in place protecting the lives of the pirates. Far from being the yough guy, this drama plays on and 0bama looks like nothing more than a hand-wringing namby-pamby.

Exurban League: Obama Reaches Out to 'Moderate' Pirate Community

"Since the pirates are still holding the captain, I have sent FBI negotiators to facilitate his safe and speedy release. I assure his friends and family that I will not stop until this man-made disaster is resolved in a peaceful, tolerant and ecologically-sound manner.... For too long, America has been too dismissive of the proud culture and invaluable contributions of the Pirate Community. Whether it is their pioneering work with prosthetics, husbandry of tropical birds or fanciful fashion sense, America owes a deep debt to Pirates." -- The full text of Obama statement can be found at that outpost of sanity deep in our southwestern wastes ..."

What pirate wouldn't think of branching into a new line of business, like a U.S. ship?

Well, now that the lib-tard, anti-military, anti-American, radival, pro-Islamic-terrorist "whordes" are the ones RUNNING this once great nation, I guess they WOULD "think about branching into a new line of business" at that, wouldn't they?

Perhaps because they KNOW they have nothing to fear from "us".

Maybe they have even already been TOLD they have nothing to fear?

we are about to find out how the world will treat us because of our new soft military stand. I don’t want to be the military not able to defend themselves against opposing attack while zero is in office.

"Cool headed"? "Inept and confusing order" is a better description.

The Obama Solution: Show up with shiny big boats, tell the pirates how much we respect them and their religion, apologize for invading their waters and for all past American and Euporean colonial sins, give them them a pile of money, then hold a press conference and brag about our "new tone" in international politics.

Four ragtag pirates in a lifeboat without gas in the middle of the ocean surrounded by US warships are making demands and we are responding by having the FBI conducting negotiations like it was a domestic, criminal hostage incident. What are we going to do, read them their Miranda rights?

Now they are being joined by more pirates making more demands. Sorry, but this should not have gone on for more than two days and counting. This shows weakness, not cool-headiness.

In 1905 an American by the name of Pedicaris was taken prisoner by the a Tunisian leader named Rasuli and held for ransom. President Theodore Roosevelt sent a company of Marines and a note “Pedicaris alive or Rasuli dead”. Mr. Pedicaris was returned in short order.
I am certain there is now a seal team on site. I would order them to free the good Captain and in the course of the rescue the four pirates would be killed. Then the bodies should be taken by helicoptor to the pirate village and the bodies dropped from 1,000 feet into the town square.
There should be no further comment from the US Government, as actions speak louder than words.

This situation is only occurring because the crew, not the Obama administration, acted boldly. Had they not fought back, the ship would be in a safe harbor and our administration would be negotiating with the pirates on their terms, rather than having the U.S Navy dictating terms to the pirates in the life boat.

Hillary Clinton’s cackling response aside, the Obama administration’s failure to say anything about this, other than words to the effect of “no comment” broadcasts to the world that the pirate situation is not that important. They should have jumped out in front of the situation, rather than skirt the issue.
