NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) -- Pirates and U.S. warships are racing to the spot in the Indian Ocean where an American sea captain is being held hostage by a handful of pirates.
A Nairobi-based diplomat says the pirates holding Capt. Richard Phillips have summoned assistance. He says skiffs and motherships are heading toward the area from the coast.

Well, since a SEAL team went with the cargo ship. hopefully they sent in another if needed to deal with the lifeboat situation. Info from CBSnews,
Pirates Demand Ransom For U.S. Captain
"A Somali in contact with a pirate leader says the captors of a U.S. sea captain want a ransom and are ready to kill him if attacked.
The Somali, who helped negotiate a ransom paid last year to pirates who seized a Ukrainian ship carrying tanks, spoke Friday on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals. He says he has spoken with a pirate leader on the ground in Somalia who is coordinating action on the lifeboat adrift in the Indian Ocean. He says the plan is to get the hostage to shore to negotiate from a better position. ".............
................."The captain is still tied up and not allowed to speak. "We haven't heard from him today - and we've asked," one defense official told CBS News correspondent Kimberly Dozier.
But as far as the crew on the USS Bainbridge can tell, "he's fine," the source told Dozier.
There are two pirate ships and other vessels looking for the lifeboat to rescue their comrades, the official confirmed. "We're aware they're out there. We have assets. We know they're looking. Our intent is to keep this area isolated, and to keep them from linking up," the official said. ".......................
........."The pirates' strategy is to link up with their colleagues, who are holding Russian, German, Filipino and other hostages, and get Phillips to lawless Somalia, where they could hide the hostage and make it difficult to stage a rescue, the Somali said. That would give the pirates more leverage and a stronger negotiating position to discuss a ransom. Anchoring near shore also means they could get to land quickly if attacked. "..............
................"He said the pirate leader had been in direct contact with the lifeboat via a satellite phone but lost contact after Phillips' captors threw the phone - and a two-way radio dropped to them by the U.S. Navy - into the ocean, fearing the Americans were somehow using the equipment to give instructions to the captain. They acted after Phillips' failed effort to escape. ".................
.........."Counterterrorism expert Juan Carlos Zarate said on CBSNews.com's "Washington Unplugged" Friday that the U.S. cannot stop an outside party from paying the pirates to win the release of Captain Phillips. "....................
............."President Barack Obama, who is getting regular updates on the standoff, declined to answer questions about it Friday for a second straight day. "............
......."Phillips, 53, thwarted the takeover of the 17,000-ton U.S.-flagged Alabama by telling his crew of about 20 to lock themselves in a room, the crew told stateside relatives.
The crew later overpowered some of the pirates but Phillips surrendered himself to the bandits to safeguard his men, and the Somalis fled with him to an enclosed lifeboat, the relatives said. "...............
......"Company spokesman Kevin Speers told AP Radio on Thursday the lifeboat carrying Phillips and the pirates was out of fuel and "dead in the water."
Most of the lifeboats are about 28 feet long (similar to the one pictured at left) and carry water and food for 34 people for 10 days, Joseph Murphy said.
The lifeboats are covered and Murphy, speaking after a briefing by the shipping company, said he suspects the pirates have closed the ports to avoid sniper fire."..............

We have the balls to deal with this stuff. We just don’t have the balls to deal with the whiny lib lawyers who use our law like a hang-rope.

I had not seen this. If we allow reinforcements, this is going to get much worse before it gets better, if it ever does.

If this is the “big test”, then Obama gets a Zero. He’s too busy ordering pizza right now to care.

"...How about the Seal teams...?" Have a sub break the craft in half and pull it under water.
Four SEALS could be waiting underwater to rescue the captain.

These pirates must be the seaborne division of ACORN. What's the difference between pirates taking over ships and the Dems taking over private companies like GM and AIG.

Time to stop blaming trial lawyers. Ultimately they depend on the agreement of the jury—twelve good and true Americans. If we’re not smart enough not to be taken in by trial lawyers, how can we be smart enough to govern ourselves?
To: Dallas59
I really disagree. Obama hasn’t said anything but this is very low hanging fruit. Almost certain that he ‘won’t do a thing.’ He’ll give the order and ultimately it probably will be successful.

Now Pirate REINFORCEMENTS are coming! Can anything stop them? O, WOE to the US Navy in the area! LOL.
