Retired Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell, author of the book "Lone Survivor," about his military service in Afghanistan, suffered a heinous crime last week while at home here in the United States. Joy-riding thugs murdered his therapy dog.
He doesn't sleep well at night so was awake and heard a gunshot. He got up, got his gun, checked his Mom to be sure she was ok, checked his yard, saw a car with 4 men outside of it standing over the body of his dog, laughing and joking about killing her. She had been shot to death, and they looked like hunters admiring their kill.
Dasy was Marcus Luttrell's therapy dog - his rehab partner and best friend. Her name came from his fallen buddies in Afghanistan. Danny, Axe, Southern Boy and Yankee was how his Navy Seal squad was known - Southern Boy was Marcus' name, and his book, "Lone Survivor," chronicles the ordeal they all went through, leaving only Southern Boy alive.
The outrage Marcus shows in this clip is understandable. The perpetrators will likely face no more than 2 years in jail, and two of the men are only considered witnesses, not participants in the crime.
The state of Texas needs to look at their laws regarding the wanton killing of animals, especially companion animals. If this story triggers a change in those laws, there will at least be something good to come out of this tragedy.
I do not posess the restraint this SEAL demonstrated ... if it had been my dog, there’d have been a gunfight and my statement to the cops would be “I feared for my life”.
Very sad but Id like to know what happened. He had a gun and a phone. Did he shoot? Did he call the police” Any arrests? More info needed.

I figured in Texas he’d have been able to plug those guys.
Just as I believe dogs go to heaven, I believe there is a special place in hell for these thugs. May a place were they have a pork chop tied to their neither regions and the place is full of pit bulls!
The other attribute most SEALs have is patience. These creeps are dead men walking.

I thought, “they needed killin’” was a valid defense in Texas.
This is so sad! Losing a pet is like losing a family member. But losing a pet in this horrific manner is so terrible. Marcus, buddy, I hope you get justice. My heart is with you.

Here in Albuquerque they would have charged The Seal with speeding and disorderly conduct, and brandishing a weapon. The perps would have been let go with a verbal warning.

I pity these fools. People hate animal cruelty more than human cruelty.
When Michael Vick case was going on, a black friend of mine said he would have been better off if he raped a white grandma and she was right.
You forgot DA Brandenburg and Judge Murdoch would make sure he’d be in solitary.
He called 911, followed the thugs across a couple of counties, and did not shoot .... which I could not have done!
He spoke with the guy on the radio before Rush, yesterday. They played the 911 tape today.
He heard the guys laughing, he arrived and the guys jumped into a car. He got into his truck and chased them through 4 counties while talking to 911. He was able to apprehend them and they were arrested.
When he was on the air, he sounded a little unstable and sounded like he was going to hunt the perps down and kill them.
Me too! I believe I would have let 'em have it with my trusty 12ga.
Told the officers later... look.. I heard shots..grabbed my shotgun...saw my dog and I'm sure I heard 'em say "you're next old man"... so I opened up on 'em.....
