Students at Liverpool John Moores University watched in shock yesterday as two men were hauled outside and forced to the ground by armed police.
Witnesses said the duo - students at the university's Business School - were wearing combat trousers and hiking jackets, and claimed there were rumours of 'a bomb' on the premises.

Police believe possible targets were the Trafford Centre shopping centre in Manchester and a nightclub frequented by footballers.

In addition, a Homebase DIY store in Clitheroe, Lancashire, was raided by 100 officers, with shoppers looking on as two security guards were led away.

SNIPPET: “’Al-Qaeda ringleader’ wins appeal against deportation”
SNIPPET: “The alleged leader of an al-Qaeda plot to bomb targets in north-west England has won his appeal against deportation.
A special immigration court said Abid Naseer was an al-Qaeda operative - but could not be deported because he faced torture or death back home in Pakistan.
Mr Naseer, 23, was one of 10 Pakistani men arrested last April as part of a massive counter-terrorism operation in Liverpool and Manchester.
Student Ahmad Faraz Khan, also 23, won his appeal on similar grounds.
The security services believed the men were planning to attack within days of their arrest, but neither was charged.”
SNIPPET: “But Abdul Wahab Khan, 27, and Tariq Ur Rehman, 38, who were also arrested at the time, lost their deportation appeals.
They had already returned to Pakistan.
Mr Justice Mitting said they were committed Islamists who knew of Mr Naseer’s plan.”
WOW....thank you so much for the excellent update, Cindy!
I wish that the current US ‘administration’ had someone even close to your high level of tenacity, attention to detail and organization skills, but I’m afraid that they have nobody who is up to your league. Thank you so much for all that you do :-)
Pinging a few others who have posted here as well so that they might catch up on the latest.
You’re welcome Stoat.
I’ve gone to cheetham hill a few times and heard of family over there in manc that there was arrests..
Rumour is that nothing will stick on these lot but guarantee MI5 will be watching them more closely I bet too
Brilliant, LOL
your sarc is very intuned with the Brits
been there a few times shopping and i went into what they call a prayer room which I might add is right near the McDONALDS(LOL)
Anyway I went in there and took my nieces and kids and said we’ll say a prayer and stay here form some time while the wife shops.
It was then time for a bunch of muslims to turn up and they kept waiting outside the room. I stayed now longer and they asked me to leave I told them no I am saying prayers etc.
They then told me that I have to leave as they need to pray I told them that they can pray but I am not leaving as this is a public prayer room with no specific religion.
I stayed for about an hour and if looks could kill off these pakistani muslims I’d be dead but you know what they wouldn’t say anything after I told them that I am staying here .
My point for all this was to prove to them that this is not a muslims room, this was put here for anyone to pray and they need to understand that it is not their’s.
