Your 'Somebody' is missing another point.
By then (2010) The Kenyan and Pelosi will have *immigration reform* (amnesty) passed. (see drudge and FR threads)
That's another 20-30 million RAT voters. So they have nothing to fear.
If an illegal broke gun laws (and a gazillion others), having a piece of paper making them legal citizens won't make bit a difference to them regarding firearms - they'll still buy their guns on the street if need be.

I have no expectation of any meaningful elections in the future. 2010 and 2012 mean nothign to me — I already know who won.

So they have nothing to fear (in the 2010 elections)
I disagree. My current Congresscritter had an "F" rating with the NRA when he was more or less in a "liberal" district. Then Delay's redistricting plan occurred in 2003, putting Chet Edwards in a much more conservative district. In the meantime and over time, his rating improved to "C-", "B", and now, "A". I'm not saying that I would trust a man whose opinion on gun control is dictated by conversions of political convenience (indeed, I'm running against him in 2010).
What I AM saying is that you better BELIEVE that Chet Edwards is VERY worried about what Nancy and Barry are doing to his re-elections chances.
So far as the immigration issue, that will only serve to bring out even MORE votes AGAINST this Administration, not for it. There is no mechanism to get illegals to the polls in 2010 - the culture in that crowd of avoiding government interaction is working and will continue to work against the Democrats, not for them. So will the outrage this issue will bring to the surface. This is NOT a strictly Conservative issue. Just like the 2nd Amendment, there are plenty of people in the middle and in the other party that are strongly opposed the Administration on this issue. CIR didn't fail because Conservatives and talk radio banded together (as some in both parties would have you believe). It failed because the center held - both parties wanted it, and both were ultimately too afraid of their OWN constituencies to pass it.

I believe they’ve put the “ballot” box of liberty out of reach at this point, between ACORN’s fraud, illegal immigrant amnesty and voting, and politicizing the census,
we can just forget about a political method of keeping our liberty.

That's another 20-30 million RAT voters. So they have nothing to fear. You are correct. It's right close to 30 million and they will have a lock on the elections. It is all by design. What a sad development of events. These people are without consience.
