Pelosi pledges compromise on assault weapons ban @ 10:29 am by Michael O'Brien
The ball is in Congress's court to craft a compromise in reinstating regulations on assault weapons, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) acknowledged Tuesday.
During an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America," Pelosi said that the Congress will work to find some middle ground between the previous ban, which expired in 2004, and the precedent laid by the Supreme Court in a ruling enumerating more concrete gunowners' rights last term.
"We have to find some level of compromise," Pelosi said, citing 53 victims of gun violence nationwide in less than a month. "And we have to rid the debate of the misconceptions people have about what gun safety means."
"Yes, it is," the Speaker said when asked if the ball is in Congress's court now that Democrats control the White House. "And we are just going to have to work together to come to some resolution."
Pelosi indicated that new regulations might entail registration and prohibitions on transporting some firearms across state lines.
The Speaker also expressed displeasure at the attachment of a gun rights provision to legislation that would grant Washington, D.C. a voting member of Congress.
"Right now, we have the debate in Congress over the District of Columbia wanting a vote on the floor of the House, something we all want. That's a civil rights issue," she said, pledging to find "middle ground" on the issue. "And, yet, they want to put a gun
bill, attach that to that. I don't I don't think that that should be the price to pay to have a vote on the floor of the House."
Prayers up, FRiend.
why so series?
Thank you and my friend made it to his flight on time
Don't forget the NAIS.
Now, lots of my gun nut friends are going to scream bloody murder at my notion that a fundamental right should be qualified by this kind of process ...
Yep.
BTTT
Looks like she is getting the Botox involuntary lip curl, frozen smile and stare into space.
Sure, I propose a compromise, Nance. You vote it in and we vote you out. Pity you won’t be needing that private airliner anymore.
The “O” in the word of, is the perfect ten ring.

My brother took his own life with a gun. That the was just a tool, it could just as easily been an overdose.
Guns don’t kill people, people do, and no amount of nonsensical talk can change the truth. The knife problems in England prove this without a doubt.
Here’s a better response; “ and the donkey you rode in on”
Think about that for a while.

Here is what Pelosi, Obama and the Dims are going to ram down our throats...
1. An expanded HR 45, gun owner licensing. All gun owners will have to have these licenses, even owners of facilimie weapons (AKA Airsoft and BB). Licenses will only be granted if the records of the applicant are clean (This includes misdemeanors from decades ago). Licenses will have high renewal fees ($100-300/yr). Licensees will be required to hold $1 million in liability insurance. Possession of otherwise permitted weapons (See #3) without license is a felony.
2. Ammunition accountability... All ammo will be required to be microstamped and will be taxed $1/round. All non stamped ammo will be required to be turned in or thrown away. Possession of non-marked ammo is a felony. This part of the act also bans Cop Killer bullets. Furthermore, this will require the gun to leave a microstamp of its own on the ammo. (BTW, this will also affect law enforcement and military ammunition stocks, as they will be required to have stamps of their own)
3. Expanded Assault Weapons ban This includes most all semiauto rifles, anything that can be Bump Fired, Semiauto handguns, and Semi-auto shotguns. It also includes pump-action shotguns and Sniper Rifles AKA your deer rifle. The AWB will also require people with Prebans to register their guns as Machine Guns, and that the tax stamp will go up to $10,000 per weapon. If you cant afford this, you have to turn the weapon in without compensation...
4. Expansion of the Lautenbach amendment: Removes Domestic Violence as disqualifier to gun ownership, inserts any misdemeanor as disqualifer... Anyone with a misdemeanor on their record will be prohibited from owning a firearm. This includes DUI and traffic offenses, and offenses decades ago.
Finally, all CCW permits will be voided. Also, all gun and ammo imports will be banned.
I don’t know why we should give a crap about what Nancy Pelosi thinks.
