Update on Hillsborough/Orange County NC Tea Party
6 April 2009 | TQC

Posted on 04/06/2009 1:00:06 PM PDT by Titus Quinctius Cincinnatus

Here is the updated information for anyone interested in coming to the Hillsborough/Orange County North Carolina Tea Party (maybe we should call it the Regulator Tea Party?)

Date: 15 April 2009
Time: 5:30-6:30 PM
Location: The grounds of the Historical Orange County Courthouse, 104 E. King St., downtown Hillsborough, NC
Contact info: No website/Facebook yet, but please FReepmail me if you want the email or cell phone - I will be able to check email and FR until late this evening, after that, I'll be out of town until Saturday evening.

Bring your tea bags, your protest signs, and yourselves! For Orange Co. residents, we will also be "folding into" our protest opposition to the recent County property tax revaluations. We want to keep that fire burning brightly!

It was a war over taxation and unjust government, so the name would be apt. Surprisingly few even know the origin of the term “Regulator,” though some historians have begun to view the Regulator War as the actual beginning of the American Revolution.

When is a Tea Party planned for Edenton, speaking of firsts and the Revolution? That would be fitting, and it’s such a beautiful old town.

Thanks for letting me know about this.

NC ping! I know someone lives in Orange County, but I can’t recall who.

I never go anywhere - Hillsborough might as well be on the moon!

I learned about the “Regulator-Moderator” war in Texas History. Theirs was in the 1840’s.

I’ve had several FReepers ask if I was from TX because of that.

I guess the Texan Regulators should have paid royalties ;-). When I was a girl, you got all the fun stuff in Texas History class; it’s probably all Civil Rights these days.
