Michelle Obama comes out on top

With all the fuss over what Michelle Obama wore in Europe over the past several days, it was this weekend's fashion faceoff with French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy in France that everyone awaited.

The winner? Obama, by a thread.

Here, a review of the first ladies' week in fashion.

Amazing! Sarah Palin gets harassed for wearing trendy clothes well. But Michelle Obama makes an $800+ sweater look downright cheap and gets a total pass.

Since we're talking fashion. In this Pepsi-forever young commercial, there's a part where a hip-hopper is dancing and the woman in cutoff fatigues looks a little like Michelle. Check out the woman in the left side of the screen in the commercial, which is still airing on TV.

Go figure.... I never saw Palin look bad, even in Missouri on the last whirlwind day she wore a great red jacket over a shirt and jeans and looked awsome.

No first lady has ever worn an outfit as ugly as the one MO wore in London one day last week.

That big ugly white bow outfit came close, but, jeeze, do these people not have mirrors?

I've seen clown outfits that look better.

If Laura Bush had worn anything as hideous the MSM would be having a field day, but MO could dress like Amy Winehouse and get raves.

Does anyone remember what Barbara Bush and Nancy Reagan would do when visiting a foreign country—coming off the plane they were frequently in the color/or one of the colors of the flag of the country they were visiting. In fact I think Jackie O did this also. Just a little classy touch that would be wasted on the bunch in the WH now.

You are so right. I was disappointed when Sarkozy married her. I wasn’t impressed with her standards, but who am I to say?

I felt that Michelle could have represented the women of America better. We have American designers who, if given the chance, could have worked with her body type and made her presentable. That misbuttoned sweater was awful. She is sorely in need of a handler and a knowledgable dresser.
